Wiha 26491 5-Piece Ball Metric End Hex Driver Set

These were recommended for building a Voron printer, and I thought they were great through the whole thing

Like I said, "They're Wiha, so they must be good...", as they always have been for me. I always buy Wiha when available.

I bought these to maintain my 3d printers. There are a lot of tiny screws on the printer in hard to reach spaces and these have a ball nose making it easy to get to all the screws. I did use a magnetizer on them so they would hold the screw while getting the screw started and they work perfect.

Wiha gained its reputation by building a simple thin handle with a pivot , using exceptional tool steel made by German craftsman. I just noticed they are made in Poland. The red raised lettered Wiha on the side of the black handle is gone ,the pivots are generic and no linger have the type and size of the blade raised on them to identify each tool.The white lettering is small and will ware off the handle leaving you with no idea the sizes.Not at all what you would expect from a German tool brand.

Little did I know that these mini ball-end drivers would come in handy so soon after my purchase. The day I took them intowork, I noticed a small screw on one of my knives beginning to back out. While I was at it, I checked the tightness onall of the screws and found another that was a bit loose. Very handy item to have close by when needed. I have purchasedmany Wiha tools, all of which I have been pleased with. Good product and a good price at Amazon.

These Wiha ball end metric hex bits have great fitment with metric allen heads of all specs, whether they're just the right size, or maybe a bit bigger.However, there are some things you should keep an eye out for. First off, the handles for the drivers are significantly skinnier than they appear in pictures. It's hard to get firm grip on them when there's so little material to hold onto. And secondly, be VERY careful with the smaller bits (1.3mm, 1.5mm), as there's not a whole lot of material connecting the head of the driver to the shaft. Managed to snap the 1.3mm head off while trying to loosen a set screw that was in a thumb stud screw on a pocket knife. The smaller bits really shouldn't have any reasonable torque applied to them, as they really can't handle anything stronger than finger tight.Awesome set, but definitely some things to consider when using them.

These metric hex drivers are exactly what I expected from Wiha. Solid construction at a decent price.If you have to do anything more than the most trivial work driving bolts then it is worth it to grab a set of ball drivers. Ball drivers allow you to turn the driver at up to about a 20-degree angle from the screw shaft. Often this can mean the difference between great frustration and a quick and easy job.

Fantastic quality tools, it's superbly made with no defects and the tool end appears to be durable and precise. Expensive compared to other sets out there, but the quality does show.
