Such a handy item!!!!
I love this thing. It's not perfect, I won't lie, but oh it's the most useful cleaning tool I own. I live in a medium-size apartment, and this is fantastic for it. This vacuum is best for small jobs, and not for massive expanse of carpet. Although, I use it on all of the carpet, and every room is carpeted except the kitchen and bathroom. It's exactly what I needed. I wanted something that was hand-held like one of those rechargeable kitchen vacuums, but I know those are unreliable because their battery seems to die fast and they don't have much storage space or power. And they tend to be one-purpose. This thing is light enough that I can use it easily, I don't have to drag it out over things on the floor like a normal vacuum (I have a cluttered home, it would be difficult), I can use it anywhere, on almost any surface. The only thing it is not handy for is my couch-cover, because it's strong enough that it will suck in the fabric a bit so it can be difficult to go over. But, if you hold down the fabric, it can still be used for that. My couch cover is kind of loose. I hate loud vacuums, and this one is a lot quieter than normal vacuums. I notice, if you use it on a hard surface, it will be louder, also, the tube function is louder. If you use the main brush function, it can be rather quiet going over carpet. Enough that I don't feel too bad vacuuming late at night. The tube is indeed a bit short, and it's quite taut so even if it can stretch out, it feels annoying to do so. But, the thing is light so I just carry it over and I can reach anything anyway. The cord is a great length. The vacuum is not indestructible, so do avoid doing what I did, which is ramming it carelessly into wood furniture. Or squeezing the handle with a death-grip. I noticed the seam in the plastic in the handle is splitting a bit from that. I've had the vacuum a year, though, and it is working fine. I worry if I use it too long it will get hot and I don't want to damage it, so I tend to not leave it on for very long periods of time. I think you can, it just gets a bit warm so I don't. It is not good for picking up dust on hard surfaces. It is extremely powerful, and can pick up large objects. I can suck up things like dry pasta, bread bag plastic seals, pet food, paper scraps, candy sometimes.. And sometimes accidentally larger things. It seems easy enough to fish out an object if you accidentally suck it in. The front is nice and clear and it comes off easily with a switch, and the filter just slides off when you want to dump it. It cannot hold lots and lots of stuff, and the suction goes down if you make it too full. But it doesn't matter to me because it's so portable. It has enough that I can do a room without changing usually. It's disgusting and satisfying how much dust and hair and crumbs etc that it sucks up from a carpet. I would not use the brush function on anything except carpet, but I think it can work on a tile floor if you are careful. The tube is nice for the kitchen. Replaces a broom. Takes no effort at all to suck things up. Some people might not like the main brush, because you have to manually go over the carpet by running it across it, but it's been easy for me. I have small arms and most of the weight is against the floor and I just roll it over. To clean, I use an old toothbrush. It gets rid of most of the dust/fuzz on the filter. My mom rinses hers out and dries it outside. If you want to get rid of the fine dust, you should rinse it. Be sure it dries all the way. If you have bad allergies, I can't recommend this vacuum. I don't mind getting a little dust on my hands as I scrape it into the garbage, but some people do. If you are not sucking up dust, all you do is pour the thing, so that's not a problem. I bought one of these for my mom and she uses it nearly every day on her vintagey flocked couches to get rid of cat hair. Being able to move the plastic thingie in front of the brushes to make it exposed forward instead of underneath is really handy for going up the couches vertically. We both love the power of this thing because it makes it really easy to clean corners that usually are ignored, and so on. Even if it broke, I would buy it again! I'm glad I took the chance. Very nice for space conserving, a great gift for a pet owner or someone with a small place.

Lots of power in this
First, i want to state that i have only had this system for 1 week. I will alter my review if i come across issues in the future, but here are my notes so far. Also, i purchased this specifically for stairs and small crevices. PROS: 1. Cord- The cord was shorter than my old handvac so i was concerned it wouldnt reach up all my stairs but it did. I have 13 stairs (including very top step) and it reached slightly further than that top step. 2. Bagless Canister- i am not a big fan of these mostly because i tend to make more of a mess trying to detach and shake it off in the trash, not to mention im a little weird about touching the dirt once its in the canister. I found this canister much easier to get off than my old one, easy to empty without getting my hands to gross. I think i did pick up a lot of carpet fuzz which really sticks to the filter so be sure to clear it out of the system with shut off to protect from overheating. 3. Power- This was crazy awesome. This system (version) had more than enough power. I vacuumed with my upright vacuum and then went over the same area with hand vac and i picked up a lot. In fact if you have older carpet it tends to pick up a lot of carpet fuzz as well which can quickly clog filter. 4. Exhaust- i have decorative greenery around the ballisters on half of the stairs and little soft pieces are constantly falling off. This was an issue with my old hand vac where the exhaust would blow them all over the exhaust came out the sides. This system blows toward the back and i didnt have any issue with that here. CONS: 1. Weight- This hand vac is heavier than my old one. However, i use this mainly for stairs and crevices so i won't be using it for extended time, making the weight not much of an issue for me. Also, it seemed that the weight of it aided in its pickup. My old hand vac i had to move it with one hand and stabilize-press down with another to really get the deep dirt. i don't need to do that with this system. 2. Power- In a way, it actually had too much power in that it is hard to move the vacuum forward on carpet. But when using my old hand vac i always moved pulling back rather than pushing forward so i prefer this direction and it wasn't much of an issue for me. Also, on my living room, i realized i can easily move it forward if i let the system hover very slightly above the carpet rather than letting it ride down in the carpet. Basically lifting it every slightly not letting the weight of the system press it down. 3. The Handle- The handle is rounded on the bottom but square edges on the top. Though the square edges could hurt or feel uncomfortable after a while, i have smaller hands and i think the bulkiness was more of an issue than it being square. 4. Noise- Yes, this hand vac is loud, but it didn't seem louder than my old one. If you have sensitive ears like mine a simple set of ear plugs is a good idea. ADDRESSING Some Issues Stated in low reviews 1. Hose Suction- i have found this very strong, not weak at all. There was a comment that if the hose gets clogged there is no way to clear this out. First suggestion would be to have caution when using this to not accidently pick up things like paper or kleenex as this could very easily clog it. If you think it is clogged try to straighten out the hose so its trajectory is straight in direction to the angle of the base of hose, sometimes things get clogged because the hose is bent. Though i'd really like to add that when the hose is at its shortest its probably about a foot and a half, so if you cant reach the clog from the free end just take off the canister which is where the other end of the hose is.... 2. Cord wrap- this was a great feature and works well. My 9 year old was able to use it and wrap it back up with no issues. 3. Exhaust- the air does come out quite strong out of the back of the device. i have not had an issue of this since i use it primarily for the stairs. This could be an issue with hard floors. 4. Shutting off feature- i made it up most of my stairs when the system shut itself off. I realized that the filter was covered with carpet fuzz. I dumped the canister and it started back up without any issue. (again i have only had this for 1 week) 5. Opening canister and filter- This canister was much easier than my old hand vac to get on and off, yet secure enough there were no leaks. Filter also came off with no issue for myself. As i use this vac i will update if there are any issues. Though one could look at it and say "it was only $40" for me $40 is still an investment and it shouldn't only last a year or less. It should last longer. I hope others have as good of luck as i have had.

This thing is awesome. It's portable, powerful, and intelligently designed. I bought it to specifically clean my carpeted stairs, and it does an excellent job as advertised. I've seen reviews where people say, "the suction isn't that good on rough, uneven surfaces." No crap. That's not what it's meant for, people. If you're using this to clean the inside of your car or to pick up larger sized pellets, aka. not dirt, use the hose. It'll suck up everything no problem. The thing has hella suction and is easily comparable to my standing, canister vac. Also, the hose is brilliantly positioned to fit snugly against the spine of the vac in a little groove. Basically, it won't come out during vigorous use. Regarding the weight, I'm a small dude. 5'7, 135 pounds. This thing is not heavy at all. No, at 7 pounds or whatever, it's not ideal for your frail grandmother, but that's hardly an indictment. If you planned to do your whole house with it, I guess you could become fatigued after an hour of vigorous usage... but, again, that's not what it's intended for. This is a light, supplemental cleaner that packs more power in the brush than its battery fed competitors. And for 50 dollars? It's quite a bargain unit. I can wrap the cord up in literally 5-10 seconds, no trouble at all, and it fits just about anywhere. The only MINOR gripe is that cleaning the filter off is a very messy job. I know you can buy washable filters from a third party on Amazon.ca, but I figured I'd try washing this one. It worked fine, but it's difficult to get the majority of fine dust particles out of the filter. I don't consider that worthy of dropping a star since I love this thing. I even named it Bubbles. BUBBLES!

Expect it to have some weight to it, but a well built unit. Great suction, very long chord, well designed with hose, attachment holder, and adjustable brush cover. Easily takes care of small jobs and light debris, and the brush pattern works well on fabric. Putting it to the toughest test, pet hair on fabric, and it does a fairly decent job but expect to do a number of passes. 3-4 passes picks up about 90% of the hair, and a quick finish with the hose attachment will pick up all but the last few stubborn hairs. Yes, it is a heavier unit, but the design allows you to use it without always holding it suspended. Rest it on the couch, chair, stairs, etc and slide it across to minimize tiring the arms and wrists. If holding up to use such as for curtains or furniture arms and sides, you might need to give your arm a rest after 10 minutes or so. Does not hold a lot of debris, but it is only a hand held. I can do the furniture, curtains, stairs and corners and edges once or possibly twice before emptying the canister, which is extremely easy and quick, about a 30 second job to open, dump, and put back together. This is not really made for doing carpet, but is does work if you don't mind shuffling along on your knees. Purchase extra filters when you get the unit. They will start to pill very quickly, but still work well. Best hand held I have used, the trade off for the suction power is the extra weight.

I bought this item because of the reviews about its amazing suction power, and now having used it for over 6 months I agree. It's very powerful, works well and is very handy for quickly cleaning up messes. I like the little slanted edge attachment that comes with it, it's easy enough to attach and works well for getting into those tiny corners. The hose is easy to remove when adding attachments, no major struggles with that either. It's small enough to hide away but easy pull out, seriously much more easier than lugging out the bigger vacuum. However, it is a bit on the heavy side and using it for more than 10 minutes actually hurts my dainty little wrists but I don't mind because I enjoy how clean everything is afterwards. The filter cleaning is a bit of a pain, kind of wish I had another one of these to clean the filter with... And it blows out a lot of hot air from the back, which isn't ideal because I'm allergic to dust and the stream of air scatters the dust that hasn't been vacuumed yet but again, I just maneuver around that and I'm fine.

Ordered this product and was very impressed with it's power. Lots of suction, in fact better than a lot of big vacuums I'm sure (but it is definitely very noisy). However, the beater bar (or sometimes called roller brush), did not turn at all! Purchased this unit to pick up cat hair from furniture. Of course it didn't do that because the brush wasn't turning. So, thinking we just got a lemon,we returned to to Amazon, and got a replacement of the same type and model. The next one came, and the brush worked! ... for about 3 times that we used it. Then the brush stopped working / turning again. I discovered that the belt had come off. I managed to (very carefully and without damaging the unit), open it up, to put the belt back on. (After all, belts over time need to be replaced when they become stretched too much anyway). I put the belt back on, which was a little difficult to do, and it worked again! For about 30 seconds. And the belt had come off again! Very disappointed. Returning it to today to Amazon, who said when they receive it back, they'll give us a full refund. We still need/want a little unit to pick up the cat hair, so we're trying our luck by ordering a Dirt Devil 100 Classic. Most of the reviews on this Dirt Devil product are quite positive, so we'll see!

We recently moved from a four-bedroom family home with a built-in vacuum to a 1000 sq. ft. two-bedroom condo. Our new home has only two small carpeted spaces, the bedrooms. With a king-size bed in the master bedroom and a queen-size bed in the guest bedroom, there is not a lot of carpet to vacuum. I chose this vacuum because it is small and easy to maneuver around the tight spaces. Storage space in our condo is limited, so I'm also happy I'm able to store this vacuum in the cabinet under sink number two in the en suite bathroom. The vacuum has a very powerful motor which makes it a little heavy. It does a very good job of removing dust and debris which means I clean it every time I use it. (I use an old toothbrush to clean it out on our balcony, because it is a dirty task.) It comes with a 20 foot cord which allows me to vacuum each room without plugging it in more than once. It's also handy to have a long cord for vacuuming our Toyota RAV4. It comes with an onboard crevice tool which makes it easy to vacuum along baseboards at home, or around tight areas in the car. A second motor powers the rotating brush. A swivelling "visor" provides two vacuuming modes: the usual horizontal, plus vertical. There are several video reviews online which pre-sold me on the product.
