Conté à Paris6 Count Drawing Pencils Set

I was having a lot of issues with my other pencils that keep breaking of. These ones are just right.

This set is a sampler pack of various Conte pencil types, it is not necessarily a matched set for drawing. It contains two grades of graphite pecnils, a carbon pencil, a charcoal pencil, a standard Conte Pierre Noir black pencil and a white clay type pecil. As far as I know, this set is offered in two versions, the one I received is the "graphics" pack and the one I really would have liked is the "classic" pack that has sanguine, sepia, black and white pencils. I found this out after I placed my order. I can't complain about this set, Conte makes high quality top of the line art supplies, I just don't really use charcoal and carbon pencils for sketching, I already have Perrie Noir Conte pencils which are great and it was nice to try their graphite pencils, which are supberb, but I'm full up with graphite pencils. So, it is really best to buy a product that is fully descibed which this offering was not. You can buy these sets elsewhere that are fully described.

I mean, they are fine. However, for the price they wear down very quickly due to the lead constantly needing to be sharpened. If you don't care about how quickly they would go I suppose they could be worth the price, but look around and you will find equally good pencils for half of the price.

I wish the grey was a little lighter but it works for my use. A draft drawing in light grey, followed by an outline in hard black and then adjustments in soft black. I does smear slightly on canvas panels but once I add my oil paint, it's completely hidden, even under light colors and white!

I just started taking some online drawing lessons, and was so excited to use the famed Conte a Paris. It turns out, I much prefer regular charcoal pencils. The black conte pencil has some graininess in it, and the consistency of the marks is somewhat oily.

This set is advertised as a conté set with a range of browns and neutral tones as shown in the drawing images. It almost looks as if it were opened and resealed with standard graphite pencils that can be found anywhere.

Unfortunately the description has no information whatsoever about pencil colors. This led me to blindly buying this set, and I didn't get what I wanted. Haven't used them yet but they look to be a good quality pencil.

This product was a waste of money. Why sell a product that is such a risk to human health? I'd rather not take my chances.

I bought these conte pencils as an art student they are part of the resources required for my course, I have included a picture of what I am working on to give you an idea of how much I have actually used it, the lead seems to be broken all the way down, no sooner do I start to get a point that the lead falls out, it doesn't even snap but actually falls out, I have kept the lead in the hope I can use them or do something to not let it go to waste, but truly disappointing for such pencils, I have even tried different sharpening methods and even a knife with similar results until I got so pissed off I had to stop and walk away, I have since ordered another set as this is a piece of work I will be graded on so it needs to be compete, very disappointing let's hope the new set are in better condition.
