How much faster is it than the regular motor and would it work with the 4 by 4 crawler?

Same as the regular motor, with a remote control you can adjust the speed of it. I don't see why it would not work with the crawler, if you use the right gears, all,Lego components are compatible, even when mixing regular Lego with technics with a bit of ingenuity it works! = )

Power Functions M-Motor is faster than L and XL motors.

does this come in Lego box or is it repackaged?

No box. It comes in sealed Lego plastic bag.

does it come with a switch

Some of the older sets did not have a switch or anything to control a motor but most of the new sets do have controls. This could be in the motor housing or battery pack. You can determine this by reading what's in the box and it should tell you all the details.
