RODALE Steering by Starlight: The Science and Magic of Finding Your Destiny

If everyone in the world read this book, we could create a reality we know is possible but can't quite manage to realize. Martha Beck fills in all the missing bits that would make life and our dreams for it work. The missing bits have something to do with among other things...fun and play. Imagine that! Love makes us exponentially smarter...who knew! On my list...this book makes it to the top. It's not going on the bookshelf but is staying beside me for ongoing relationship to wonder, creativity and joy. The book that actually contains the keys to every dismally locked door and is written with humility, humour and true COMpassion. Arriba.

A friendly book with wise thoughts and simple exercises for people who wonder what to do next in life. Martha Becks "simple" advice is to find out who you truly are and how to let that knowledge guide you. I would really recommend to actually DO the exercises and not only read them through (like I sometimes do...).

I've read a ridiculous number of self help books; I eat them up like candy. And most of them have at least one or two useful points, although by now they're all starting to sound a lot alike. Not so with Steering by Starlight. This is one of the few I've ever read that 1) I did almost every written exercise (and thankfully, there weren't so many that it was overwhelming), and 2) as soon as I finished the book, I started right back at the beginning - and am doing all the exercises again! They really are that useful.I love that Martha doesn't spend a lot of time with the "why," sending the reader back into the murky past. Instead she guides one into very useful, and very doable, ways to have a different life experience starting NOW. Another thing that I really, really loved was that she isn't all about changing your circumstances. Her goal is to guide you through changing your inner experience, what goes on inside your skin rather the job, the relationship, the money issues, etc.. She contends that, as you change your inner experience, your outer experience will change as well. It's too soon for me to be able to verify that, but my behaviors started changing from day one, along with my thinking, so I imagine that my outer experience will change dramatically over time. She has great, and often hilarious, examples that clearly demonstrate her points.Note: She says that if you do the work outlined in the book, one result will be that your dreaming (nighttime, sleep dreaming) will become increasingly active. In my case at least, that is absolutely right on. My dreams are coming fast and furious, and have a lot of useful information. She does have interpretation guidance in the book.

Martha Beck's approach to finding your "Right Life" is easy to follow & logical, yet full of practical insights I've never been exposed to during any of my searching. I found myself being inspired, engrossed, & excited while listening to her message. And further, she includes exercises to stretch my mind in ways I never thought possible. Some of her exercises may be familiar to anyone looking to manifest their desires, but Martha's techniques add depth I've never experienced with other teachers.

I have read all her books and love this author. She is so motivating with a great sense of humour and gets you in the frame of mind for DOING STUFF.Her book 'finding your own North Star' was recommended reading for a course I did with the Choice Centre in Las Vegas and really helped power me up and get started on my new life. I have taken off since then and done major things I only ever dreamed of, and know now where I am and what to do to make a great life happen. Have just bought her latest, 'Finding your way in a wild new world', because she is always such a joy to read.Can't recommend her enough.
