Necessary sharpening equipment
I purchased this with a set of the diamond grit abrasive plates for sharpening activities. This one comes with the polishing compound that was also an attractive selling point. This gave my hatchet the final razor sharp edge that I was hoping to achieve after my sharpening operations. It functions well, instructions are easy to read and will absolutely last a long time if you do not abuse the leather strop.

Worked great.
Product delivered as promised and in good condition. I used it right away. Strop and compound worked great for my woodcarving tools. Nice to see it was made in the USA!

The cost is worth it.
It does work, but packaging was pretty damaged. For the cost, it was worth it. Doesn’t make a razor blade, but my knife is definitely sharper than before.

Great buy!
I have not used a strop before so I chose this one for the low price point and large size. Haven't quite got the hang of it yet but am getting great results anyway. Removes the burr and hones the blade to a razor sharp aligned edge after sharpening with a whetstone, exactly what it's supposed to do. My knives are sharp but I'll watching a few more videos and practicing to hone my technique. [See what I did there?]. Comes with instructions and some green finishing compound that you rub on to the strop before use. Perfect for beginners like me, I highly recommend this product.

Polishes My Blades to Perfection
I recently decided to try the Hutsuls Brown Leather Strop with Compound from Amazon to keep my kitchen and EDC knives in top shape, and it’s been a fantastic addition to my sharpening routine. As someone who enjoys cooking and outdoor activities, I needed an easy-to-use tool to maintain razor-sharp edges, and this strop delivers. This 3 x 8-inch strop is made of 4mm-thick, vegetable-tanned buffalo leather, with one smooth side and one rougher side for customized honing. It comes with a bar of green polishing compound, which is applied to the leather to refine edges and remove burrs left by sharpening stones. The included step-by-step guide is beginner-friendly, walking you through applying the compound and stroking the blade away from the edge (5-10 passes per side worked for me). I used it on my chef’s knife and pocket knife after sharpening with a 1000-grit stone, and both came out with a mirror-like finish, slicing paper effortlessly. Amazon reviews praise its “excellent quality” and ease of use, with one user noting it’s “perfect for a polished edge” on chisels and knives, which matches my experience.

This thing works
I had never used a strop before. I had a Case Copperlock that didn't pass the fingernail test. I followed the instructions that come with the strop and now it passes the fingernail test! I am pleased, I only use the blade for food so this sharpness is perfect! I was able to strop all of my other knives and it worked like a charm.

Awesome value and razor sharp results
This was my first strop, so I went very basic. It is really nice quality and value for the money. It is easy to use, thought the compound is a little dry - so you have to follow the instructions. With very little effort, I was able to get all my blades hair popping, razor sharp. I am going to also get the wooden backed one, and keep this as a travel/bag unit. Really really happy and highly recommend.

Leather strop is thick the compound isn't that great.
Brown leather strop is thicker than the Hutsuls strop kit with paddle. Compound is not as easy to apply and the compound does not do as good of a job as the BeaverCraft brand.Good leather strop. Buy better sharpening compound.
