Accurate
The assembly was easy as long as you don’t try to use the useless instructions. Just looking at the picture of the assembled item was more useful. Not as well built as some other machines that I was considering but as long as I don’t abuse it I think that it will last. The other ones that I was considering cost two to three times as much. If I was buying it for commercial use I probably would have got a more expensive one but for a DIY tool this is a good alternative. This one has a carbide cutter head and some of the more expensive ones don’t. This was the reason why I picked this one. I was impressed by how it cut square and straight right out of the box. Being a machinist for 42 years has made me a perfectionist. I have gauges that reads in increments of .0001”. I was prepared to spend as much time as it took to calibrate it but I didn’t have to!

perfect out of the box
I've been debating about which jointer to buy for a while and landed on this one. I build mostly small things (cutting boards, lazy Susan's, guitar stands), so the 6 inch width and shorter tables were enough for me.This came out of the box practically ready to use. The adjustments from the factory are perfect and I was using it in no time. This tool instantly made my woodworking better and more accurate.

Manual sucks, but it cuts wood
Definitely not the simplest tool to setup - it took several tries to parallel the infeed and outfeed tables. The manual isn't very clear on the procedure and tech support is outright useless - the important point the manual fails to make is you want the outfeed table at the *lowest* parallel plane to the cutterhead, if you make it parallel in a higher position you won't be able to match the outfeed table without increasing the cut depth above zero. The pictures in the manual are too small to be helpful.Note the fence isn't easy to setup either - the locking mechanism can push it out of alignment, so double check it's flush to the outfeed before attempting to square it.Once all that is done... it seems to work quite well! The cuts are quite clean - comparable to the feel of sharp hand plane. I was able to face joint and edge joint 8' long boards with some practice, although a dedicated floor stand unit is probably appropriate if you do long jointing frequently. You need some kind of dust collection for this to work well - I wouldn't want to use a shop-vac for anything more than a board or two.The manual isn't clear regarding the mounting hardware - it indicates 3/8" hardware, but the holes in the base are 3/8" wide - so you actually need something closer to 1/2" screws. I'd wouldn't recommend using it without some kind of attached base, otherwise it's prone to tipping in operation.

Worth it
I love this jointer!!! I bought this because i just needed one asap. But when i got it and started using it, i found this is my fav jointer i have bought. I love how easy it is to use. The set up takes a few mins, but once you have it dialed in, it works magic. 10/10 would recommend

I think it's pretty good
First time buying one and I'm really impressed with it. I'm not a professional or anything, but like wood working in my spare time. This tool has taken that hobby to the next level! My boards are awesomely smoothe after passing and it's so sexy. This is gonna make jointing boards so easy.

Very well made jointer
I have am very happy with this jointer. It required me to make no adjustments to get a nice clean cut right out of the box. If needed both side of the jointer can be adjusted. Two cut pieces fit together perfectly. I am hoping for many years of wood working with no issues.

Check the tables!!
The media could not be loaded. I was getting crappy results. First I thought it was me but after getting a true straight edge I seen the infeed and out feed tables are completely warped. Like very bad!! I emailed grizzly and sent them a picture of it. They told me to send my order information to them which I did. Waiting to hear back. Hopefully they will send me 2 new tables. It sat for months after I bought so I hope it's not been to long. The tables are like 70$ a piece. Problems with the fence also. Impossible to tighten it with out it twisting. I made a fence with plywood for it. Which seems fine if I could get two new tables to find out. I will update this after hearing from grizzly.Contacted grizzly support by email and they're sending me a new set of tables at no charge. They have good customer service ( which goes a long way with me!) Hopefully theses tables are flat. I will update when I receive them. Got the tables and they were flat. Put em on and leveled them. 2x4 worked great! 3/4 inch thick 2x6 4foot long not so good. Noticed when I lowered the infeed it would twist. Messed with it for 5 days. Then noticed the infeed table was bent all ready. Straight junk.. I'll never buy anything from grizzly again.

Fence is flimsy
My fence is cupped on the face just enough to joint my edges out of whack. Which kinda defeats the purpose of this machine. A Great jointer with a cupped fence face is pretty much worthless if you are into the whole idea of precision. I’d like to buy another one but I’ve scoured the internet and the website and there is nothing available as far as I could tell. . Next step is to contact the manufacturer by phone which is really annoying. If I cannot find one I’m going to have to submit the warranty I paid extra for because this machine simply isn’t doing it’s job. I suppose I could add a melamine fence on my own but how long will that last until it too is warped? Because to attach it means matching the cup! I shouldn’t have to do that . Shop Fox should provide a halfway decent, specifically straight fence. Shoot, I could even work around a fence that’s bowed or bent by adjusting the outfeed section to match , but cupped is an impossible feat. I can’t even imagine how an extruded aluminum plate that is fastened down and in place could even cup on its own. Unless it left the factory that way.
