For big projects
If you make lots of tassels, this is a useful tool rather than trying to replace that piece of cardboard that gets worn out. I like the adjustable size that stays consistent, and how easy it is to wrap the center string. And then the slots in each end to guide your cuts is helpful. Hate to spend that much since cardboard is free, but the other features make up for it!

Tassel making fun!
I hesitated buying this tool after so many crafting blogs suggesting using cardboard as an alternative. It's NOT the same! This is a great tassel making tool. Easy to use, helpful in making tassels without bending (like cardboard) and overall consistent sizing makes for perfect tassels. This tool stays in my knitting bag for those days I want to create tassels for a variety of projects, I can make so many in a short amount of time. I have been making tassels with my 4yr old and she loves it. Arrived on time, well packaged and in great condition.

works as intended; the smallest tassel you can make is fairly large
I had never made tassels before getting this. I wanted to make my own tassels from some of the various threads and fibers I've accumulated, for use in jewelry. In retrospect, I probably should've gone with the smaller sized tassel maker, as the smallest tassel you can make with this one is quite large. (About the right size for the style of necklace I was looking to make, but far too big for earrings.)This uses rather a lot of thread/fiber/yarn/etc. (choose whatever material you want, as long as it is a continuous length) because of the size. So until you have used it a few times, have more material than you think you need. As one example, I tried making a tassel with a roll of Kreinik sparkly chenille stuff and I used every last bit of the roll. (Tassel came out all right, though!)There are instructions included. I am not going to say they are the easiest to follow instructions I've ever seen, but they are serviceable. Now I just have to keep track of them...You do end up with a long-ish string from which the tassel is hanging, which helps in terms of incorporating it into a piece of jewelry (or crochet, or whatever project you happen to be working on).The tassels work up quickly; I'd say I finished my first one in less than 10 minutes, and that was with frequent reference to the directions. I got faster as I figured out what I was doing. This is plastic and is not super substantial, but right now, after some use, the tracks you use to adjust tassel size are still working just fine and I don't think there is any danger of the plastic snapping with regular use. This is rigid and does not bend, and you do get consistent sizing, which is important for projects incorporating multiple tassels (e.g., knitting scarves and such).I'm probably going to go back and get the small one because I think that will suit me better. But this one will get used a fair amount, as well.

Crafting Junkies Unite!
I purchased this to make a garland for a birthday party; it worked really well. It makes semi-fast work of tassel making. Detailed instructions are included. I'm a fan of Clover's products and this tassel maker didn't let me down.

Easy
I got this item due needing it to make tassels for tablecloth I finished. It was actually very easy to use. I am very happy I bought it.

Awesome!
I purchased this because the old tassel maker I had couldn't be adjusted easily and was awkward. When I first took this out, I made the mistake of unscrewing the little knobs all the way. It took me quite a while to figure out how to put it back together! So, word to the wise..inspect it and how it goes together BEFORE you undo it!I actually bought this mainly to make fringe and to cut strands of yarn for doll hair (crocheted dolls), but ended up using it as a tassel maker the first time to add a tassel to a cross bookmark made for a boy's first communion. I was thrilled with how it turned out! I have the smaller one on my wish list and will be getting that one, too, as soon as I can afford it.

Nice, but unnessessary
It's kind of a cool thing to have because it aides in the making of tassels but it's not really something you can buy, apply and boom you have a tassel. It's actually kind of a pain and personally, I prefer to just make them the old fashioned way now.
