Superb little lens
It seems to me that this lens gets a bit of a rough ride in online reviews, and I really don't know why. In all honesty, in real world photography, this is a fantastic little lens. The size/weight is a joy. The results are superb. I would only offer 2 small caveats:1. For "normal" photography, 28mm is wide enough for me - I rarely find myself coming up against the hard stop at the wide end of the zoom ring, rather, I often hit the hard stop at the tele end - indicating to me that a longer tele end would be useful indeed. (Of course, 28 is not going to be wide enough if you are shooting the inside of a church or something, but in such a situation, 24 or even 20 might not even be wide enough.)2. The lens has no MF/AF switch - which I've discovered to be almost indispensable for the way I shoot. YMMVStill, the advantages far outweigh any drawbacks, and I give this product 5 stars.

Exactly what I’ve needed for my A7iii
Nowadays I just can’t lug around my favourite lens (24-105) as much as I’d like - weight and discreetness primarily - and that increasingly means that I find myself using my camera less. I really couldn’t understand why there wasn’t a smaller zoom and then this came along. It’s a perfect range and with the clear image zoom on the A7 I can double the focal length if needs be so that I can reach around 120ish. It doesn’t have image stabilisation the camera has that built in. The images are sharp and I don’t feel as much a regret as I thought I might leaving my fave lens at home - that’s also an f4 and I find the quality, sharpness, and performance relatively comparable. Also, most importantly, I feel more comfortable with this when I’m walking around especially whilst travelling. Note, I find that the lens cap doesn’t grip or stay on very securely with a UV lens on.

Lens has arrived with flawless front and rear, really happy with this 2nd hand model.

Excellent lightweight standard lens for Sony full frame.
Expensive for what it is, but it is very small, very light, and very sharp! I tested it against my Tamron 28-75, and it was every bit as sharp at equivalent focal lengths. Of course it has no IS, no lens hood, and the build quality is not as good, but if you want something lightweight for travelling, trekking etc, this fits the bill really well.

Extremely sharp
Great little lens. Sharper than my 35mm f2.8 Zeiss in the centre and corners at all apertures and focal lengths on my A7R II . Very impressive, especially given its size. Autofocus extremely fast and silent too. If I keep the Zeiss, it will only be for low light situations.

Keeps the smaller A7 series cameras - small.
I purchased this lens for the mirrorless Sony A7 series of cameras which are relatively compact compared to some other DSLR s and this lens is perfect to give the user a very useful - though limited range of focal lengths. The main asset for myself is with the lens being light and small - it keeps the camera compact..

28-60mm, lightweight, compact and high resolution Sony E full frame mount
This lens appeared as a lens/body combination on the Sony Alpha7C where it perfectly complements the compact styling of that camera. The focal length of 28-60mm is relatively short but serves as a great all round lens for everyday travel, landscapes, street photography and candids.Minimum aperture at (28mm) is f4 which is modest but sufficient, while at 60mm it’s down to f5.6 which, again, is modest but to be expected considering the compactness of the lens. It’s the size, or lack of it, however which is the real attraction, measuring 65mm diameter and protruding just 45mm from the body of the camera when collapsed down to its carrying around mode. For reference it extends to 68mm when at 28mm (and at 60mm too) when ready for action. The body is all plastic, keeping it down to a featherweight 167g compared to Sony’s 28-70mm, found as a standard with the Alpha 7 DSLR, which weighs in at around 300g.Manual focus is via an electronic focus ring on the front of the lens, and the zoom is a standard manual ring at the rear. These are both fairly small due to having to compete for space on the short lens depth, but that’s a great compromise for enabling such a compact lens design. The front element is threaded for 40.5mm filters/attachments.Image quality produced by the lens is well documented on various website reviews (Ken Rockwell, digitalcameraworld, the-digital-picture.com) where it receives very positive comments in terms of sharpness and autofocus performance. As an all-round short zoom it’s small, light relatively low cost and sharp. For me it’s become a great everyday, go-everywhere lens choice on a Sony A7C camera.
