It draws your eyes to the figurines. They are very light colored and need a darker background to show them off.

Completes My Set
I have The Holy Family set with the animals added. I had seen the back drop and just decided I needed to buy it to complete my set while it is still available. It came promptly and is just what I needed.

Large and Small Willow Tree Nativity sets
Some reviewers have given this bad reviews based on the fact that it is too small for the large willow tree nativity set. I think there is some confusion. The item listed "shelter for the holy family" says in the description that it was made to go with "the holy family" sculpture. This is a 7.5 inch one piece sculpture with just Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus produced because of requests for a smaller, more reasonably priced willow tree nativity set. There is also a set of animals that are made to go with this smaller set, the "sheltering animals for the holy family." I think the confusion is that there are two different nativity sets mixed on the same ordering page on amazon. The basic larger set is named "6 piece nativity" and is to a 9.5 inch scale. It fits well with the "creche" and all the other sets listed from this order page like the "three wise men" and the "ox and goat." If you collect the other willow tree figures the large nativity set is quite a bit bigger than the regular pieces. My daughter set up some of her other figures around the large nativity set and it makes Mary and Joseph look like giants. The normal figurines are more like a 5.5 inch scale. Don't get me wrong, the large nativity is very beautiful and well worth the price. It will be a cherished heirloom for years to come. But just be aware of the different scales. If you read the descriptions it should help you know what to expect. Hope this helps clarify for those looking to purchase a set.
