Great adapter half the price!
I was looking for a 2nd adapter to make life easier when switching lenses and also I have two R bodies. I have the Canon Control Ring OEM. I was surprised with the packaging of the Viltrox EOS R EF to RF adapter. Not that I cared too much, but for the price I expected it to ship in some plastic wrapper. :P Anyhow, it came with a warranty card, manual and QA card. Also it had an allen wrench to take off the tripod mount. I ended up taking it off since I wouldn't be using it. The build quality is very good so far. It's made from some type of lightweight alloy or metal. The contacts are made similar to OEM. I've seen some of these cheap adapters with "pins" that are flimsy. This one has pins on EF side just like OEM adapter and gold colored contact pads on the RF Camera side. I haven't had any issues so far and the camera R5 and R both work seamless exactly like the OEM adapter. It's lighter than the OEM and I plan on leaving it on my 16-35 in my kit. I read online when shopping around that some people claim there is some play between the lenses or body. I wiggled it and pulled etc. with my Tamron 70-200 f2.8 G2 and it does move slightly, but so does the OEM and even my lenses mounted directly to the camera move the same amount. Either way the movement is very tiny and does not affect operation. I just felt I should mention that as others complain about it. Every camera I have had has the same tiny movement. The silver metal ends seem to be the same type metal as the black part, if the black parts are painted, it feels and seems to be annodized and good quality. With limited availability of the OEM adapter, I think this would be a good option. I haven't tried it with a large lens like a 150-600mm but even though it feels sturdy, I would probably feel better with a heavier OEM adapter. But I would definately grab a few of these to keep on my EF lenses when I need to swap lenses quickly. I forget as it is and take off the adapter by accident or habit from not being used to needing an adapter. I will be searching to see if Viltrox also has the M to EF adapter for my M50 as well. The store on Amazon XINYINGKEJI responded quickly as well to a quick question and Amazon delivered it quickly as expected.I also may modify the adapter to use my RF 1.4x adapter with some of my EF lenses. But that will be later.

An alternative to the official adapter, but actually available
The world of lens adapters is a risky place, especially when it comes to adapting third-party lenses like Tamron, Tokina, etc. who were already in the same boat: trying to reverse-engineer the official spec. But the world is a little better place when it comes to Canon’s new RF mount, used on cameras like their R5 that I previously reviewed here. Compared to adapting active Canon lenses onto Sony or Micro Four Thirds mounts, for example, Canon RF to Canon EF is (at least thematically) a pass-through of prongs: those electrical contacts are passing along instructions and metadata from Canon to Canon, instead of translating that information across divergent lens languages. That’s why this Viltrox EF-EOS R lens adapter implicitly poses less of a risk in the compatibility department, and when paired with one of my several Tamron lenses seen here, it works in all categories of electronic control: aperture, focus, and in-lens image stabilization. I have seen sporadic reports of incompatibility with third-party and even Canon-native EF lenses, but they currently feel like rounding errors, attributable to something else. In other words, so far, the whole universe of adapting EF to RF mount is smooth sailing. After that compatibility threshold, it comes down to build quality and, most critically of all, snugness of the lens to twist-and-click into position. So far, there too, all good.It might be that Canon’s own EF to RF mount adapter, costing almost twice as much as the Viltrox, is marginally better. But they have had supply issues, backordered for long stretches, so even if this Viltrox is a stand-in for now, you can’t go wrong because if you go with the official Canon adapter later on, you’ll have this affordable backup anyway.

Get the real one.
Get the real one from Canon. I got this to hold me over while the Canon one was out of stock, and it was passable at first but after heavy use as a wedding photographer the screws would come loose resulting in lenses not having full contact with the camera. I kept a mini screw driver in my bag and had to tighten at virtually every use until I finally got ones from Canon in stock.

Good alternative to Canon EF-EOS R lens adapter
I’m using this on my EOS R with Canon lenses. I decided to try it because the Canon part was backordered (and a hundred bucks). It works great, no issues. Autofocus is snappy, everything works as it should. Both sides are a good fit without much play.It doesn’t have an adjustment ring, but I haven’t figured out what’s so great about that yet, anyway. To me, it’s one less part to worry about breaking.

Gets the job done
Works perfect for my eos RP but it is very cheap build quality and VERY stiff to put the lenses on to. It feels like I’m going to break something every time I screw a lens onto it. But it does work perfectly and compared to the prices of the canon ones it’s a no brainer

Great Adapter for the Money and Works as well as the Canon OEM Adapter!
I did a real world review of this adapter using both the Canon 40mm F/2.8 STM lens and the Yongnuo EF 35mm knock off lens and both performed as well with this adapter as they did with my Canon OEM adapter my EOS R.Viltrox has done a great job of creating a third party alternative to the Canon OEM adapter and for half the price! The performance is excellent with the autofocus acquiring and locking onto to focus as quickly as my Canon EF-RF adapter.I tested the Viltrox using it for both stills and video and I saw no difference in performance with their modes on both my EOS R and my EOS RP.

This fits the bill beautifully
An apology, I have just written a review in which I denigrated this adapter, Imagine my horror in discovering that I had mixed up an earlier purchase of a Fotodiox Pro with this Viltrox. My comments were supposed to be directed toward the Fotodiox not the Viltrox. The Viltrox has served me well so go ahead and buy, it is worth every penny. Once again I apologise to you all and the company

Adds vignette
The auto focus works great, but it adds a vignette that looks super bad. The quality of it overall is pretty good but I do not recommend
