Alas, I need to be a lady of leisure to enjoy these lovely pieces.
Love the pieces ~ wonderful collection, however, there are few I can readily sight read so I'll be returning it. However, for students, those with discretionary time to work on the pieces, or those who are more accomplished musicians, it's a fabulous book.

Low-priced collection of Grieg piano music that should delight
This is an inexpensive, useful collection of playable Grieg pieces which I have enjoyed for many years. I bought a replacement copy of the book after giving my original copy to my daughter for her playing pleasure. All of this music is available in higher-priced versions, but unless you are a conservatory student, this should suffice nicely. It includes a solo piano version of the Grieg Piano Concerto in A which I have enjoyed a great deal although it is a bit beyond me in some places. I really recommend it to intermediate to advanced pianists.

This score is not transcribed for piano solo.
This edition is not arranged for piano solo, but transcribed for orchestra. Score entitled, for Piano Solo. Absolutely misleading.

Great collection of works by Grieg
This is a very nice edition of piano works by Edvard Grieg. It includes the piano score of the Holberg Suite ("From Holberg's Time"), wich was originally written for piano and transcribed to the orchestral version later (the piano version is actually largely unknown). It is worth buying this publication because of that beautiful piano work alone, but many other short pieces and even a solo piano arrangement of the A minor piano concerto are included. My only criticism is that the edition is of the kind that uses glue to bind the pages, so with time I expect the pages to fall out... Other than that, I'm very happy.

good basic edition
this is a good basic edition for the piano student. the book contains varied works of Grieg, including some beautiful, poignant, little-known songs of his that he arranged for piano solo. the German texts for these are printed in the book, and help the performer to understand the depth of feeling the composer intended in each piece. the book itself is not bound well, and doesn't seem as sturdy as some other editions. with care, though, it is a good resource for studying Grieg's piano music.

Playable and sublime
What can I say? I love Grieg. Always have done. This volume is a very creditable attempt to turn orchestral scores into a piano manuscript and on the whole it works very well. For anyone who wants to play 'Anitra's Dance', or get soulful over 'Solveig's Song', or melodramatic with 'In the hall of the Mountain King', this is a great value book. I've even surprised myself by cracking out a half-convincing 1st Movement of the Piano Concerto (although I ran out of steam very swiftly thereafter). What's encouraging about this version is that there is no obvious dumbing-down going on. This allows me to convince myself that I'm playing the 'real deal' without cheating. Perhaps I'm just kidding myself, but I really don't care - if you play the piano and love Grieg, GET THIS BOOK!!(I do wish the publisher would create a spine which opens out flat, and thereby allows one to concentrate more on the music than on a wrestling match with the pages.)
