Update: Broke after 15 uses, but seller was responsive
UPDATE: As you can see from below description, a couple of the seams in the vest started to unravel with just 15 or so uses. However, I contacted the seller, and they sent me a replacement vest which seems to be holding up pretty well. As a result, I have updated my review to reflect: a responsive seller who stands by its product; a well-built and solid vest, with well-designed weight pockets that should last a long time. I can recommend this vest now. Aside from the initial quality control issues/problems I experienced, I think it's still the best weight vest I can find for a reasonable price. Original writeup is below; downgrade to one star due to the following: I used it only about 15 times and using only 30 lbs of the maximum 40 lbs capacity, and you can see from the attached pictures that the vest is already starting to fall apart. I've only used it for walking on my treadmill indoors, and you can see that it just doesn't seem to be very well made. I am writing the seller/manufacturer and will update this based on their response. If it's not favorable, my one star downgrade remains. Hopefully they'll do the right thing since I only bought it four months ago and it's received very light usage. In the mean time I DO NOT recommend it. OK, got that off my chest. I'll be 61 years old soon, hence, a senior citizen, AKA "an old man" as my daughters sometimes call me. I bought the vest to round out the equipment I have in my home gym. I wanted something I could adjust the weight on, and wear while working in my yard, around the house, or walking on my treadmill. Some say this chafes, but it really doesn't. Not if you wear a shirt. Of course it'll chafe if you wear it bare against your skin because it is solidly built, with very good seams, and heavy duty quality materials. The weights that came with it (I got the 40 pound vest) where all in the box, and they fit PERFECTLY into the various pockets for them. So this tells me two things: 1. The manufacturing tolerances for both the vest and the individual weight packs are precise, and demonstrative of good quality construction; and, 2. It's going to take a little bit of patience and care when you're putting the weights in. Taking them out is no problem. And putting them in is no problem either if you follow this advice: Start by putting the ones at the front and/or back bottom row in first while you're holding up the vest with one hand, or propped up against something; then move on to putting weights in the top row of the vest. This makes it so much easier and makes the job quick. It doesn't smell. But since I wear a cotton shirt underneath it while I'm working out, I think eventually some of the sweat may work it's way into the vest, at which point a light hand soaking/wash may be recommended. But this is normal for anything that comes into contact with the human body. It's a great buy and fits perfectly on my 5' 7", 145 pound frame.

Super Great!
It fits great and allows me to knock out weighted pushups without any trouble. If you are looking to build muscle or go running up hills, the vest is comfortable and works great.

80 and 100 pound comparison
I bought the 80-pound vest 2.5 years ago. I used it nearly every day for squats until my cat decided it would make a good litter box. I figure I got my money's worth out of it, and it was time for a better one anyway, so I ordered the 100-pound. I didn't order the 100-pound because I need that much weight. I got it because I wanted the steel weights instead of the sandbags that come with the 80-pound and lower weight vests. The 80-pound served me well. There was a tear in the shoulder strap similar to what another reviewer posted. I was okay with that because it was not going to come apart completely. Like I said, I used it nearly every day. My main complaint about the 80- was that the sand bags were so difficult to get in and out of the pockets that I never bothered to change the weight and just kept it about 65 pounds. You can see in the pictures how much bigger the sand bags are. The 80- vest is much larger than the 100+. The steel weights are very easy to get in and out of the pockets. The sand bags are all 3 pounds. The steel ones are 3 and 1.5 pounds. The 80- comes is one piece and has padded shoulders. It isn't adjustable and hangs at my waist and I'm 6'4". The 100+ comes in two pieces (pictured) and does not have pads in the shoulders. The 100+ is adjustable. I tried wearing it at the shortest setting but I couldn't reach the straps that go around you to secure it. I let it out maybe 3 inches front and back and now it sits a couple inches above my waist. The 100+ is a much snugger fit which is great. The 80- was too loose to do push-ups with but I can use the 100+ for that no problem. I definitely prefer my new 100-pound vest over the older one. Obviously the price jumps up quite a bit when you go from 80 to 100 pounds. When I bought the 80 I think the 100 was about double the price of the 80 but right now the 100 is only $150. I think that's a pretty good deal for a versatile, durable piece of equipment that I'll use every day. Even if you need less than 80 pounds the 100 pound vest better if you can handle the price. The main drawback for the 80- is how tight the weights fit in the pockets and the size. If you're a smaller person the 80-pound is going to be very large on you. I don't know if the lighter ones are just as big or not. They could be smaller and have fewer pockets. I suspect the 120 is exactly like the 100 because there are enough pockets to hold 46 three-pound weights. That would make the vest 138 pounds plus the weight of the vest which is probably about 5 pounds empty. So to truly be 150 pounds the vest would need 4 more pockets. Mine came with 103.5 pounds of weights-23 3-pound and 23 1.5-pound and there are 46 pockets but they will all take the 3-pound weights. I'd give the 80-pound 4 stars because of the tight pockets. The 100-pound costs more but the advantages are worth it. Now if I can just keep it out of the reach of my cat....

Worth every penny...
Alright, so I got this vest in the mail...and the packaging was torn to pieces. I didn't have high hopes about the condition of the vest and the weights, but I opened it up and...All the weights were sitting in a pile at the bottom of the box. The vest itself was still wrapped up in the original plastic. I checked over the weights, they all look good, and the right number as well. The vest is the real winner though. I love it. This vest has shoulder pads that are wide enough so that the don't cut into your shoulders, and they are decently thick. Not to say that I can't feel the weight, but it doesn't hurt. The vest is a decent size. It is big enough that it holds all of the weight, but small enough that it doesn't get in the way while I am walking around. I am still pretty big right now, and have been working on losing weight, so getting this vest allows me to increase the weight I carry when walking. I pretty much will add back each pound I lose by way of the vest, keeping my body working. So I am 6'4", 300lbs. and the vest fits. Now I don't have any extra room in it, but I can still breathe easily with it on. The vest is sturdy and I don't feel like I will have to worry about it falling apart any time soon. On the vest there are pockets for the sandbags to slide into. There are both "double" pockets, and "single" pockets. I found that getting the sandbags into the single pockets, all you have to do is hold the bag by one end and let the sand fall to the other. Now lay down the sandbag, with the "empty" side toward the pocket. Slide it in as far as you can, then lift up the entire vest, allowing the sand in the bag to start filling out the end of the sandbag that is already in the pocket. Then just shake the vest up and down, and the sandbag slides right in. I just wouldn't want to fight putting it in and taking it out a lot. Overall, even though the packaging was damaged, I feel that this vest is going to work for me for a very long time, the price was great, and I can start at lower weight and work my way up. As of right now, the 80lb vest is the best price per pound, drastically so actually. I was planning on the 40 or 60 until I realized the 60 and 80 cost almost the exact same. And this vest is worth twice what it cost. Great bargain, without giving up quality.

Your neck will thank you if you decide not to use this
My original reasoning for getting this vest is because it was the cheapest available with higher weights as I have already outgrew my 60 lb. Vest. I was imagining this to be a similar build, but boy, I was wrong. This is utterly the worst designed vest I have ever used and every single time I put it on, I am risking injury. You cannot simply put this vest on. You have to crawl inside and slide your left arm into one slot and almost birth yourself into the head slot, then do a lift with your back and basically use your neck to lift all this weight. When you’re fully upright, you have to pull a strap through the loop to secure the right side. The Velcro isn’t even aligned when you place it and it’s completely awkward. This is the process of putting the vest on EVERY SINGLE TIME. On top of that, when you go higher than 80 lbs. the vest protrudes out all the way to my elbows and since I am using it for pushups, the range of motion is severely limited. These clips that hold the vest together are extremely cheap pieces of metal and the strap can still manage to slide its way out of the gap. You will have scuffs and bruises on your neck and inevitably get injured putting this on

They sent me a used on
The CAP Barbell Adjustable Weighted Vest has a lot of potential, but my experience was mixed. The design itself is solid—it’s adjustable, fits well once properly secured, and adds a good amount of resistance for workouts like running, bodyweight exercises, and strength training. The weight distribution is decent, and the vest doesn’t shift too much when moving around. However, the biggest issue was that I received a used one. When I opened the package, the vest had clear signs of wear—some of the weights were already inserted, and there was even a bit of dust and sweat residue. This was really disappointing, especially for something that’s supposed to be new. If I’m paying full price, I expect a brand-new product, not a returned or previously used one. Aside from that, the vest itself is okay, but it could be more comfortable. The straps tend to dig in a bit, especially during longer workouts, and adjusting the weights can be a hassle since they sometimes shift or don’t sit quite right. Overall, it’s a decent weighted vest, but the fact that I received a used one left a bad impression. If you get a brand-new one, it’s a good training tool, but make sure to check your order when it arrives!
