Interesting
A very enjoyable book. It makes the James Herriot series come to life, as I can picture his stories in my mind. My husband and I have read his books over and over and this is just icing on the cake(or perhaps jam on the scone.) The reason for 4 stars is the terrible binding on the book. As soon as we started to page through it it began to fall apart. Recommend the book, but a hardcover would be worth the money.

Glorious photography
This book was informative and beautifully presented with stunning photography of the Yorkshire landscape. It includes quotes from the writings of the author and therefore reflects his life and work in an accurate and pleasing photographic manner.

James Herriots Yorkshire
I have to admit I am addictied to James Herriot's books. Having read them all a few years ago when they first were published and now again on audio discs in my car, they are so enjoyable. It is just like spending time with your very best and loved friends. I never want to turn my car off and leave these wonderful stories. When I took the family on a two month trip to the U.K. I insisted on finding the villiages up in Yorkshire where James Herriots tales come to life. This was a bit of a task because Darraby does not really exist except in the lovely pages of his books. This is a beautiful book that takes the reader on a precious journey through his world.

I couldn't imagine what I had read about these wonderful photos of Yorkshire
I had purchased a paperback of this book, and the photos were all in black and white. I couldn't imagine what I had read about these wonderful photos of Yorkshire, and then I found the Colored photo version, and it is beautiful. Reading such a lovely narrative along with seeing the photos is very delightful. Yorkshire is a really special area in England.

The question that Herriot provokes - could Yorkshire really be Gods Own County?
Herriot's tales and memoir's make for great 'easy' reading for any Yorkshire affecianado. I beleive it to be a timeless work in as much as, although it was clearly written in yester-year it is still as relevant today as much as when originally published. And the icing on the cake? it's obvious unadultered love of all things Yorkshire Dales & Moors in what is after all, 'Gods own County' does not actually come from a biased Yorkie (oh no, we are far too modest for any of that funky business!), but rather a Scot from the Glasgow region, I believe... I bought this to reminice, enlighten my kids & to aid in planning a holiday road trip with great tips, gleamed from fantastic photography matched by equally inspired Herriot language of both places and area's! Yes, Yes, I recommend, get off and buy a copy...

Lovely and sweet Yorkshire
I collected this book from the post office today. I like this book because it is all about Yorkshire which I have a feeling of nostalgia towards. I have a lot of sweet memories of Yorkshire, York and England.

Just lovely
This may have been published some time ago, but the views don’t change and the narrative is very typical of Alf White’s lovely style.
