A little tired and soso
Not as incredible as it was described. But if this brush really was as they promised it would be, the brush would do the painting without me.So I didn’t expect that. Or that it would knock me over with one tenth of those qualities. If I did believe any promise made before I hit “proceed to checkout”, I don’t think I would be able to deal with the constant stream of disappointment coming my way.So I keep that low. From this perspective, that brush is fine.I just don’t really want to reach for this brush when I reach for another brush. It’s a bit sloppy and weak maybe. Soft, but not good soft like squirrel. It makes and keeps an ok point, but not precise and really pointy like the brushes I end up using every time. Like Escoda versatil or Princeton Heritage or even some of my Hobby Lobby’s Masters Touch brushes.Maybe this brush is as wonderful as they said it would be and it’s my panting style that’s not working out with this brush. I need a bit of snap back from a brush , this one has none of that. It’s slow, not snappy, not really pointy and if it really holds a lot of water/paint, I wouldn’t know. Since I don’t use it long enough to find out. It bugs me as soon as I load it up with paint and I can’t put it down fast enough. It hasn’t lost any hairs. I was prepared for that after reading reviews.I mostly bought it because one of the watercolor artists/instructors whose instructions/tutorials I appreciate and respect a lot, was hawking a brush like this one “ made for Chinese calligraphy and this is why it will be so wonderful for watercolor....” during the tutorial, he did not exactly promise that this brush would make us paint as good as he, but he kind of, a little bit made it sound like this could happen. But he also warned us not to fall for one of the many cheaper and common Chinese calligraphy brushes brush, one not as thoroughly developed, researched and controlled by him, made just for him in the deepest of china by a magic brush maker he found after years of searching....Of course I did exactly that! Not because I bristled at the amount of $15 for a magic watercolor brush - I’m a sucker when it comes to well targeted marketing for art supplies and promises of becoming a better artist after all and I’ve spent a lot more on a brush then $15 (so far, no brush, but only practice has made me better)) - but because I just didn’t believe that his brush would really be that different.Oh well. Now I’ll have to try his brush after all.

Very good brushes can be used for details and as a mop brush .. can hold enough water
I used it for water colour and it’s amazing, you can do beautiful Chinese paintings like bamboo trees and many others. I highly recommend it

High qualify brush for small script calligraphy, gongbi drawing, and shoujiti calligraphy.
The more I use this brush, the more I love it. This brush is perfect for small script calligraphy, gongbi drawing, and the best for shoujiti slim style fount calligraphy. See the picture attached, this is the first time I wrote shoujiti, does not look too bad, right? The length of the brush is perfect, not too short or too long, see the pictures for comparison, the one in the middle is this brush. The brush is pure wolf hair, high quality. I would recommend this brush to anyone who is looking for a good brush.

Meh brushes
Far too flexible to work for any serious Asian calligraphy. These brushes are best used for detail work on western style paintings and perhaps speciality uses in Asian calligraphy—such as painting very finely detailed, small characters. However, the hairs are very soft, sparse and flexible (although they do appear to be all natural), which does not make for a good Asian calligraphy brush, which tend to be loaded with hairs and possess a certain resilience. My professor confirmed this opinion (she has a PhD in related studies and is somewhat of a master calligrapher). These brushes are especially bad for beginning-intermediate students of Asian calligraphy as well.
