GEDORE - 1962396 OX 648 H-1257 Axe Spalt-Quick Rotband-Plus, 1250 g

This splitting axe is a real workhorse. I also own the heavy splitting maul but this lighter (1250g) axe is much easier on your body when working down smaller chunks. I like to quarter the big logs with the maul and then use this axe to take it down from there. I have more expensive axes than these but these are my go to splitters when I need to get real work done. Extremely well built and well worth the money.

Amazing tool from Germany's oldest Axe Forge; worth every penny and it truly a joy to use. I've split oak, beech, poplar, and pine with this; light enough to use all day long, but heavy enough to bust stout hardwood rounds with a good swing behind it. FYI - Ochsenkopf makes this same axe for Stihl, who sells it as the Pro Splitting Axe for $99 at most Stihl elite dealers. It's bright orange and says Stihl on it, but the head is stamped Ochsenkopf. Minor gripe: a proper axe shouldn't have a lacquered handle, but some sand paper and linseed oil will get you back on track.

This is the best axe I have ever used. Yes it is specifically a splitting axe, but trying to compare this task specific tool to other task specific axes, i haven't seen anything better. It splits wood better than any maul or splitter Ive used. I recently split a cord of Ash with this axe, the rounds ranging from 12-24" tall and 6"-24" in diameter and it was a pleasure to use. I'm comparing this axe to other axes in my collection which include; gransfors bruks, wetterling, council, snow and neily, fiskers, true temper, Kelly works, cold steel, ect.

The media could not be loaded. At first I was very pleased with the ax it preformed well and after sharping it held an a good edge though out use untill I was splitting fire wood on the second night I had it and the handle just snapped off in my hand as I struck a piece of oak

Nicely weighted and solid construction, but the overstrike guard bites into your palm each time you swing it (as your hand chokes up on the handle). In the photos, the guard appears to be rebated into the handle, but in fact it protrudes outward enough to be a hassle. I returned the axe.

The 1250 handle is too short. Its only 28" I over looked that spec so my fault. I'm 5'6 with shoes on lol and this is too short for me. It feel like a long handled hatchet and just as light. I tested it out so I doubt they'd be alright with that. If I could I'd return it and get the larger one. I think it's listed as 2500g, it has a longer handle. I did buy The big ox also it works very well, it splits oak with ease. Don't but this if your a grown adult, get the other one.

Smaller than the regular Spalt-Quick. Excellent for kindling and the new handle looks like it will last much longer than the regular wooden one.

Da mir mein Brennholz etwas zu grob gespalten geliefert wurde muß ich im Laufe des Winterseinige Stücke kleiner spalten.Daher benötigte ich entweder einen teuren hydraulischen Spalter oder eine gut funktionierende Spaltaxt.Ich habe mich für die Spaltaxt entschieden und da etwas mehr investiert.Das Spalten geht damit leicht von der Hand , Stiellänge und Kopfgewicht passen sehr gut zusammen.Das Handling ist bestens und der Keilwinkel der Schneide ist prima. Der Anschliff ab Werk ist Praxisgerecht.Der Axtkopf ist vorbildlich eingepasst und verkeilt. Der Griff liegt gut in der Hand und ist durch ein Schlagblech am oberen Ende gut geschützt.Ein gutes Handwerkzeug.

Sicuramente è un ottimo prodotto, anche se un po troppo costoso...

al ser de diámetro pequeño es muy manejable pero no quiero decir que no habrá troncos sino todo lo contrario,de hecho he abierto todos los que han caído en mis manos.Para mi de lo mejor que he probado.

Gute Qualität. Liegt super in der Hand. Kam scharf an und spaltet wie sie soll.
