OK product.
This is my third item after many years to replace malfunctioned units. The first unit came with a projection clock I bought (around 10 years ago?). The sensor failed after many years and I bought another one. The second one lasted 4 years before it started reporting somewhat inaccurate temperatures at certain ranges (I also have a Davis weather station and YoLink sensors to compare against.). This purchase is now my third. I’m ok with that and am pleased that the new unit still works with my old projection clock. Good job with the backward compatibility. The unit has always been outdoors under a sheltered porch and out of direct sunlight and subjected to subzero thru 100+ degree temps. Battery life is fine with standard alkaline batteries and lasts several years.

Works as advertised
The original one I had corroded because of a bad battery. This was the OEM replacement. It works as advertise.

The first two lasted about four years each.
This our third sensor for use with our projection clock. It’s nice to wake up in a warm bed on a cold morning, and be able see what the outside temp is without getting up. You can decide what you need to wear, or whether you’re going to get up at all.The first sensor came with the clock. It sat under our carport, but it was probably more exposed than it should have been. It still lasted four years. The second one was under a porch, but sitting on a wicker stand next to the wall. It also lasted four years. This one got mounted on the wall inside the top of the porch. Rain can’t blow in on it.Maybe it will go more than fiour years, but hey, four years is a good run for a small battery operated transmitter that runs 24/7.

Dry before you buy
We really like our Ambient Weather projection clock with its indoor and outdoor temperature feature. We were unaware that the outside sensor had fallen off its mount and was covered with snow for a week or so before it quit working. Unfortunately water had gotten into the sensor unit so I order a replacement sensor from Amazon. Meanwhile, in a "What the Hell" moment, I decided to remove the batteries and place the remote sensor in a closed container sitting on top of a desiccant tub from the dollar store. Two days later, after I had already gotten the replacement unit, I removed the waterlogged unit from the dry environment, replaced the batteries and it started working just fine. I now have a ready replacement surplus senor unit, but would recommend to anyone that has an electrical device that has been exposed to water that they try the desiccant dryer trick for a few days before ordering a replacement.

Expensive
It works, but it's quite expensive. I noticed that my other clock, the SMARTRO SC31B, which also needed a replacement sensor, was able to pick up a signal from this unit. If and when it fails, I'm going to buy a replacement sensor for the Smartro instead, which costs much less and should be compatible in theory.

Great replacement!
This was a replacement for a damaged transmitter. It synced immediately with the receiver, even though the receiver was at least 15 years old. Easiest replacement of any electronic item I've ever dealt with.
