Do the freight components (they look like engines?) have the two holes underneath to fit on the Brio transport/freight railcars?

Yes, they all fit together and are interchangeable. The crane magnetically takes the freight off the boat and can be placed on a railcar.

Would you be able to pick up the wooden logs from the "Lumber loading" car with this?

My granddaughter, whose son I gifted it to, said yes it will pick up the logs.

Can it float? Dimensions please? Is it made of wood ?
