At A-Level, many students find maths a real challenge, coming up from GCSE, so it really is essential to have good textbooks that make everything crystal clear, with worked examples showing every step of the solution. This has been achieved here, with a beautifully illustrated, colour textbook, with none of the austerity associated with textbooks from decades gone by. The upshot is that it makes A-level Maths accessible to a far greater degree than in generations gone by. Anything negative to say? Yes, but for most it's not a major problem! In my opinion, there are too many exercise questions in each topic, and too many review exercises. I'd also like a more graded exercise approach, where each question gets slightly more difficult than the last, and five 'mock exam' papers. I also think each exercise should have a small section, clearly headed, of questions aimied specifically at those hoping to achieve the highest grades of A or A*. The CD supplied is useful, allowing you to put the e-book version on your tablet or smartphone; and solution banks are available free-of-charge, giving model solutions to every question. Frankly, with this level support, teachers from decades gone by would be able to almost guarantee an A-grade to every student on their course! If you're doing A-Level Maths by the Edexcel exam board, then look no further. Room for improvement, but definitely the best!

As a home tutor, these books, which are produced by Pearsons who produce the task exam papers, are a useful resource covering clearly the full syllabus. The explanations are sometimes rather quick but the numerous worked examples are excellent.
