it works just fine
used this transformer to power display on outdoor wood burner. had no issues with it after being in use 24-7 for a few months.

Decent price and functional.
The voltage was correct. I read some reviews mentioning the step down measured 16v and the center tap measured 8v. I don't know how they were measuring this, but that should be the peak to peak voltage. The RMS voltage should be 12 and 6 roughly. The voltage from an American wall outlet should be 170vac peak to peak. 170vac divided by square root 2 gives 120vrms. So if they are measuring a peak value of 16vac-17vac across the secondary, 17vac divided by square root 2 = 12vrms. 8vac-9vac across the center tap provides 6vrms.

Worth the money
NICE TRANSFORMER . I LIKEUSING THESE FOR ALL MY AUDIO PREAMPS 12VAC AT .500MAs. Makes it ideal.

Didn't work
The power output was not as specified. This was attempted to be used as a power supply for a powered speaker/fm radio to replace the supply that burned out. There were no instructions or wiring schematic, so I had to rely on what other reviewers said. I ended up tossing the speaker/fm radio in the trash and replaced it with a Sangean Bluetooth Radio.

8V + 8V or 16V not 6V + 6V or 12V
This transformer output is 8V + 8V (red to green) or 16V (red to red).I was looking for a compact 120V to 12V transformer to fit into a shallow 4 square box which is great but if you are looking for a 12V transformer, this is not it.The small motor I am using can only run with 12V so this 16V transformer does not work.I use Fluke meters and have over 25 years experience in the electrical trade. No instructions in box so if you do not have any electrical knowledge then you may want to do some research or just use the blacks as the line and the reds/green as the load.

Working great. Cables were sticky
Eliminating wall wart transformers. Working great. Cables were sticky....kind of a pain, but covered with heat shrink.

So far so good.
Used it to replace failed OEM transformer in PCB rework preheater

Perfect for my application
Was exactly what I was looking for with the exception of the step down voltage is 8 volts to the center tap and 16v across the entire secondary winding. That's 99% of the time not an issue and was fine for me. I used this for a DIY spot welder made from a microwave oven transformer (MOT). The timer control circuit required 9 to 12 volts AC and honestly this worked without issue on both the center tap 8v and the 16v even though it said 9 to 12v AC. That would go the same for the majority of applications and anyone needing to step down 120v to 8 or 16 volts.I did do a little testing and really just playing around to see what the voltage would have to be to get 6 volts or 12 volts with makeshift speed controller / voltage divider and found that 90v ac input gave me 6 volts + 6 volts. All in all, the product came on time and packaged well. I would definitely buy again and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a transformer to power low voltage devices of any sort. Wires were a little sticky also with a weird glue like substance.
