Unsuitable for young children
I prefer to buy wooden toys instead of producing more plastic but these are really hard to assemble, the holes have to match exactly to let the marbles go through and the blocks fall over if not on a table top so not suitable for young children. My table is now very dented !

Versatile and instructive
Provides a good introduction to how things work and unlike some of the all plastic versions, gives children a range of construction options

Love it
A really lovely toy. I bought if for my two year old and even though she is too young at the moment to actually build the marble run she loves putting the marbles in and playing with the coloured blocks as building blocks.

Well-made, suitable for early learning
The media could not be loaded. The marble run arrived very well packaged with the shrink wrap being the only plastic in sight! It is great it comes with a bag to keep all of the pieces in after the first use too.All of the pieces are well made and sturdy - although not heavy enough to cause much pain/damage if dropped on little fingers and toes by accident. The box itself recommends 6+ but the only small parts are the marbles, so with adult supervision it could be an excellent early learning toy. There is a lot of room for creativity but you can also follow the runs pictured on the box for inspiration. It can be quite fiddly, however, as the pieces must be lined up to ensure the marbles do not catch and get stuck in the run as they go down (which happened to us multiple times). This, of course, could just be user error though!Overall, it’s really good fun and can easily be a shared experience between family members etc. It is slightly limited by the number of pieces (33) but you could easily combine two sets for highly creative marble run construction.

Nicely made wooden construction set.
This toy has a real retro feel, so different from the usual plastic, highly engineered, complicated games that you see in all the shops. It’s constructed entirely from wood and comes with 6 marbles and a handy cloth storage bag, so no need to try and fit it all back into the box. Each piece is well finished and interspersed with colourful blocks, which act as the towers for the runs. There are lots of different ways to set it up but you need to make sure each piece of the run is correctly aligned, otherwise the marble gets stuck in the rut and spoils the fun a bit.The box recommends from age 6+, which is about right, any younger and I don’t think they’d have the dexterity or patience to construct it but would enjoy watching the marble run to the bottom and then knock the whole thing over.At nearly £30 its not a cheap toy and there are similar sets available that have more pieces and features. Having said that, it will last for years, although I can see the marbles going missing at some point, probably end up under a cupboard or settee.Hope you found my review helpful.

A nice educational construction set.
It’s nice to see wooden toys making a bit of a comeback. I think that it is important for our young ones to experience more than just plastic. This set is all solid wood apart from the marbles. All the wooden parts are very smooth to the touch and there is no chance of getting splinters or any other such nasties. The idea of the set is to construct a marble run. It teaches them how to balance blocks on their edges. It teaches them how gravity works and for the marbles to run that one end has to be lower than the other. These are logical things we take for granted being adults but not so obvious to children. The most important factor with this set is that it’s fun. Watching the marbles make their trip around your constructed layout is quite satisfying and gives you a sense of accomplishment.Age wise, 3+ years seams a good benchmark but of course they will need supervision because of the small glass marbles are so easy to pop into the mouth.Overall, a nice educational construction set that even includes a storage bag for all the parts. My only criticism is that I would have liked to see more parts for my money.

Not just for children!
My partner had so much fun building all different Marble Run courses and believe me when I say partner who is 27 years old. He started off by helping the kids to build and assemble their own courses to ensure the marble can complete a full run, then the next thing I know, he’s sitting there playing with it by himself because he’s taken over. It is a good game for kids because it gets their imagination going, but this is also a great game for adults who love things like constructing new things and seeing how many different ways they can do it.
