Excellent compact and high quality e-drum kit
This is a very solid, though bare bones e-drum kit. I've played a lot of e-drums, and with the current price of the DTX6K-X it is very worth it just for the power of the module alone. While I do not love all of the presets. It is a very powerful module and with some editing you can really dial in some great and realistic sounds. The ability to layer and import your own samples also is fantastic. It has USB audio, tactile controls, nice interface, individual trigger inputs, and a very solid rack. The rubber tom pads do not bother me at all, though I had to adjust the velocity curve a bit to my style, but this is to be expected. The snare is great. Three zones make a hitting a cross stick easier and more reliable than any other e-kit I've played. The 3 zone ride is also very nice. The pads and cymbals are a bit on the small side, but I wanted something compact, so this fit my needs. I have a very small bedroom and it fits no problem. This is the first Yamaha kit I've owned. I've had Rolands, Alesis, Simmons, and many others. These hold their own as some of the best quality on the market.

Good sound! good quality!
You can always trust Yamaha! Very good sound. Good for kids and beginners. But I wish I had paid a little more for the better frame's one.

Lovely set for home practice- neighbor friendly
I bought this for my 7 year old to learn drums. He takes classes and can now practice at home easily. The set can be adjusted to size so it should grow with him. It is not 100% silent, but you can’t hear it in the next room. He is hitting rubber with sticks so you can’t exactly sleep next to it, but you can sleep next door. We put a little muni amp with it so he can hear the TV and play along with his songs, but he also practices with headphones. He gets embarrassed that he makes mistakes so he loves that only he can hear the sound in the headphones. The set seems very well made and the sound is good. Great for at home HOA/apartment neighbors friendly drumming. We likely will not take this to shows, so I can’t say if it travels well or not. As the kid is younger, he still runs around the house so I did have to move some furniture to protect the wires and make “the drum cave.” I come from a musical family so spending money go good instruments is an investment not a splurge. I am pretty good at following directions and electronics so this was easy for me but it did take 2 hours to unpack and get it how I wanted it. It was packed immaculately- way to go Yamaha! Also, some of the sets we saw and both likes were 3 times the cost. All and all its cheaper than soccer and I feel he has something that is a good value and functional for our needs. It has only been 2 weeks. I guarantee I will be back in the reviews if we have any issues in the next two years. I had some thick carpet top gym floor tiles (12) for under weight that I used under it, if you have not had drums before the the pedal have spikes to keep them from scooting away, so maybe consider that while buying as a rug will NOT save your carpet or flooring.

Amazing head unit
Used this to replace my old TD-12 and upgrade some pads that were falling apart. Nothing beats the mesh pads out there but the snare feels good despite being foam based. No real complaints though I would save up and buy the full out mesh set if the opportunity arose in the future.

Absolutely impressed!!!
Yamaha killed it on this one!! As a seasoned drummer playing for 30+ years (having owned top line of Roland and Yamaha electronic kits before) I've seen the development (and decay also) of all major brands in the market (Roland, Yamaha, Alesis, KAT, Simmons, Pintech, ddrum, etc.) For $1k, this kit is absolutely impressive! Nice responsive pads and cymbals. The snare and ride sound and feel as if you were playing acoustic ones: rim shot, ride bell and edge hits, etc.), rubber pads (toms) don't feel hard at all. Your sound engineer will love the features of the DTX Pro module, I can assure that your sound check won't take longer than 2 minutes and the modulation of your sound is at your total control. Loved the ambience and effects knows, they bring your sound to a pro level. Loved the 1/4 inch cabling all over the kit, quite practical if a cable gets messed up. Easy to assemble, got it up and running in a little less than 1 hr. All parts well packed/protected, and overall nice quality/materials. I have to say that if you have never owned an electronic drumset it might take about 2 hrs to get to put it together, just be patient, it's worth it. I'm looking forward to add more pads and cymbals. Congrats Yamaha, after 25+ years I just renewed my votes with you guys!!!

Small but packs a punch
This drumkit is amazing. It’s very small portable but also a beast. It has 60 different drum kits by default and they also sound amazing. You don’t even have to plug in your computer because all of them are so real sounding. everything is very adjustable and comfortable and the module is the best I’ve ever seen. It’s very easy to use, and there is a lot of modifications that you can do. This is by far the best drum kit I’ve ever had and the best interface I’ve ever had to the only cons with this thing is that I wish there was another crash and the snare was a little bit bigger. that’s it.

Gorgeous new module
Well what can I say - glorious return of Yamaha brand. I was blown away by the quality of built in drum sets. Tom toms are just wow - very detailed acoustic sound, not that crappy flat sounding nonsense of other brands (including very expensive once). Drum module is very sophisticated and it is the same for all 3 sets . So even with the cheaper one 6kx you will get the top brain which is very pleasant surprise. Overall - very happy - Im a beginner but the dynamics, range, quality of samples make it a sonic marvel which I just cant get enough of. I was searching for eDrums for about a year, was considering buying Roland, but with Roland you either have to pay closer to 2k or you get limited hardware which felt kinda discouraging. Also tried Alesis Simmons - meh, qulity seems crappy. So overall I think Yamaha made a great comeback at the best possible time.

Sounds just like acoustic drums in a compact quieter design. Yamaha has done it again.
