I used these in my apartment to soften the sound I get from my neighbors. It may not be exactly what they're supposed to be used for but I figured any thing would be better than what I have now, which is nothing. They took a full 48hrs to expand before I installed them, half of them failed to expand more than an inch. The difference in sounds I get from my neighbors doesn't warrant the price I paid for these. However, like I said something is better than nothing at all. That's why I gave it three stars. I think to really get a substantial difference with these installed I would probably go for a higher end product and also go to a 3 inch, maybe even 4 inch.

Affordable Quick Treatment
Exactly what you’d expect from foam acoustic panels. I’ve used and tested their 1” panels also. These 2” panels performed rather well in the higher frequency range. They’re not thick enough to truly capture low end frequencies so don’t expect them to make a good bass trap. However, they worked great filling up a 5” mobile panel I designed for acoustic instrument recording. I see a few people having issues with the smell but as with all foam products like this if you leave them in the garage or basement after unpacking they’ll expand and that manufacturing smell dissipates. My only negative is the two sided tape that’s included. If you’re planning to mount them directly to the wall do yourself a favor and buy some 3M two sided foam tape.

Don’t listen to the negative reviews! These are really nice!
Don’t listen to the negative reviews ! These are very nice panels ( I don’t have the exact measurements to see if they are actually 2x12x12’s ) and they hold up really nicely! However, as all soundproofing panels come vacuumed sealed it’s a pain having to wait for them to air out. I know people recommend letting air out for about 24-48 hours, but u have a solution to this. Take any hair dryer / blow dryer and just put it to the foam, go up and down the foam and you will see it expand. From there do that to all your panels and poof they are ready to go. I know it’s tedious but it’s worth it especially if you don’t want to wait a day or two for it to expand. If I may make a suggestion. To stick the panels to your wall instead of using the given double sided tape that will most likely rip off the paint on your walls, use mounting putty! 4 little balls on each corner of a foam piece and boom they are up on the walls. You can order a 3 pack of gorilla putty for like 11$ and it makes it really easy and safe for your walls.Other than that these are excellent for the price that you pay for them, it just takes a little effort to get it going ! :)

Good price and shape BUT you must soak and wring out every single piece!
A few years back, I bought some 2" thick foam squares like these that were gently vacuum-bagged, and returned to their shape after sitting for an hour or two. These come aggressively vacuum-bagged: you can let them sit for weeks and the majority will not return to form, will be thin, flattened and crinkled. To resolve this, you have to saturate each one with water, wring out, and wait a couple days for them to dry. You need a big sink or bathtub to do this. Think about how long that will take you, and how much damp foam you'll have to lay out after. Be prepared. These also smell like death--until they are "washed" by the reforming process...then they smell like foam. Out of the bag, though, they smell literally like a dead rat, and that smell doesn't go away by just sitting.

Give them time to fluff
So I made a mistake in how many I ordered (way too many) but that's my own fault. When I got them I knew they would need at least a day to puff out or I could get them wet and go from there I wasn't in a rush to get them up so I left them piled in a large box, I did have to rotate them around to let more airflow get to them. Giving them time did the trick and they filled out well. The adhesive that came with it is one of my favorites, I've used it before for other projects. I didn't need much at all for these to stick well. I cut roughly one inch squares then cut those into 4 pieces and put one in each corner.I still haven't finished putting them all up (like I said not in a rush) but I have noticed sound reduction already with the tiles I already have up and they look pretty cool up where I have them. Since I have so many I'll probably go through and put the left overs up as well in other areas of my office.I would just make sure you have lots of airflow/time before you need them up and make sure you actually measure and not estimating the area size

Super sound absorption!
We like to camp off grid but our generator can just be too loud sometimes. My husband built a cover for it and that helped some but we decided to add these insulating foam squares and they really helped to quieten the sound tremendously! They are nice and dense while being lightweight. They come with a great sticky tape to keep them in place that holds very well, even in damp weather. The squares were easy to cut with my foam cutter but were also easy to cut with regular scissor. A large amount is in the pack so we only had to buy one, making them a great value. These are super at absorbing sound - thinking of purchasing more for the door leading to our garage.

you get what you paid for
These are cheap, very cheap. i left over 150 square feet of it to expand for over a week and 90+ of them look like they have no chance of ever expanding to full.soaking them then rinsing them takes about an hour for every 24 square feet so expect to spend about an hour a box to do that. then they take about 3 days to dry. they do shrink a little bit after they dry completely so that's the only reason i waited, because they were bigger than ones that were dry.the smell is pretty strong but will dissipate after a few weeksI now understand why people are willing to pay 10x this cost for auralex

Disruptive product description
The dimension for this product says 2”…this Not correct the dimension of the thickness is 1-1/2”I needed this for specific ceiling that in preparation we set all the Track lighting, Fire sprinklers and Air registers. Upon arrival of the foam and realization of the actual dimension the components required resetting. Big waste of time and money to pay subcontractors to reinstall their systems.Be straight and/or accurate with the product descriptions so people or customers can rely on the information you provided.
