I bought this as a replacement to an old fluorescent blacklight for detecting cat urine stains on carpet. It is vastly more powerful; while the fluorescent needed to be an inch or so away from the stain, this will light things up at a distance of a foot or more even during the daytime (afternoon shuttered light in the house during full sun, low enough that you'd probably want a reading lamp to read but which would be fine for reading labels or just being at home). The problem is (which has nothing to do with the product), it lights up ALL organic type compounds so by itself you can't differentiate between old/treated and new stains unless the cleanser had no organics that would also fluoresce under UV light.I wanted a bright light (preferably from a reputable company but not overly expensive) that would easily pick up cat urine stains, and this was perfect. If I ever lose it, I will buy another. I haven't used it enough to comment on battery life, though.The UV glasses are a nice touch.

I already had a UV pen light, but wanted something bigger. Then, I bought this. This thing will light up an entire back yard full of whatever could possibly glow when UV light hits it. I have a large back yard. Do not under any circumstance aim this thing at anyone's eyes! There is a warning label on the head of this flashlight for that reason. Don't get it too close to skin either. It will burn. The head of this light will even make for a hand warmer during the cold of winter. Another bonus is that you can remove the 21700 battery, and replace it if it goes bad. Or, put it on an external charger, prolonging the battery life.

After reading an article in The New York Times (The Glowing Secret that Mammals Have Been Hiding), I wanted a UV light. I researched UV lights and selected this one because it emits light that is a true UV wavelength, not the longer violet wavelength, and the battery does not have to be removed to be charged. I charged it up and waited until dark to explore my house - which I thought was relatively clean. I was not ready for what this revealed. That place where the cat puked on the carpet months ago, was highly visible - more cleaning required. The toilet, after 26 people descended on my house for Thanksgiving, was no longer clean. The areas that needed cleaning were not visible in daylight, but this light still identified them clearly even in daylight. The glass bottle that was found in the rafters of my over 100 year old house glowed green - which I found was due to uranium in the glass. My jewelry fluoresced in a variety of colors. It's been so much fun discovering what fluoresces and what elements cause the different colors. This is a great educational tool for the curious student. I would not recommend it for young children (less than 10 years old) because of the dangers the UV light poses to the eyes and skin, and the light gets hot after a few minutes. I don't know how long a battery charge lasts.

Too Expensive but it works well.

Received with broken UV glasses, kind of a bummer. The light is a nice machined metal construction unit consisting of battery tube, base and head. Feels good in the hand and has a lanyard for safety.Doesn't come with any instructions and amazingly I haven't seen any posted so I'll note that after a full charge 1 press of the button is full power, press again after 3 seconds and get low power, again and it's off. Or, pressing it twice in quick succession turns it to strobe.It seems fairly powerful, low power is what I'll use for indoors. Only had it a day so can't speak of it's longevity..

First off, I'll start with a SAFETY Warning: make sure everyone within range or in the same room of this UV light is wearing UV guard glasses, and I mean everyone! This light can ruin a person's eyes if proper precaution is not taken. And DO NOT look directly into the lens to see if its working.Now, I've had this thing for a while now and it works awesomely and will light up any bacteria you missed in your household cleaning regiment. It also works great for identifying florescent compounds in rocks and makes spider and scorpion eyes glow in the dark. They make a more powerful version of this light but I feel this one is plenty powerful enough. I would recommend purchasing better quality UV Glasses. This is a great buy.

This is amazing very bright works better than the ones I have bought in the past. Nice quality. And good price.

Very high output power compared with several other units that I have.A nice not expected feature: It has a threaded socket for a tripod mount.Only negative: There is no battery status LED.I am a very happy user.
