Good quality budget pencils (120)
Pencils are a funny thing, more so if you want, or appreciate, the quality of the leads.I bought these after watching a video recommending them for those looking to use coloured pencils for art purposes, without breaking your bank account.Polychromos etc they’re not but they’re a worthy buy for students, or those looking for a pencil set that’s better than your average budget brands, and they’re honestly reasonably comparable with the high end brand names. The pencils are square in shape, comfortable to hold/use, and they do lay down a deep, vibrant colour but that comes from layering rather than from a single pass. I’ve not found the leads to break easily, and they can be sharpened to a fine point for detail work (that’s more on the sharpener you use because all sharpeners are NOT equal). The photo is a unfinished practice piece, done with the Brutfuners, lots of layering, with a wide range of colours - browns, blues, yellows, oranges, purples, reds, greens, and any white that shows through wasn’t the white pencil that came with the set. It’s claimed that they’re oil based but I’m not so sure, they do feel a bit waxy so maybe a blend of the two. Water soluble? No, so don’t try, oil (or wax) and water do not mix. It’s also claimed that they’re lightfast and again, I’m not entirely sure whether they are, or not. I wouldn’t expect them to be artist quality for the price, so I’m not sure I’d recommend them for commissioned works. The colour range is pretty big, though none of the pencils have a recognisable shade printed on (ultramarine, magenta, burnt umber etc), so I’d recommend you use the swatch page that comes with them in order to figure out the colours. I found both the white and black less capable, by far, in comparison to the Faber (polychromos) white/black - in fact I found the white particularly weak. The set comes in a sturdy metal tin, all pencils were in perfect condition on arrival, all sharpened though not to a point, you’ll have to do that yourself if you’re wanting a fine point. As previously mentioned a swatch page is included, and a foam insert to keep the pencils from rattling around. All in all definitely worth buying if you’re looking for a better than average budget set, just beware that they’re better a layering that laying down colour, and you’d be better buying a single black or white pencil from an artist grade range - Faber’s polychromos, Caron Dache etc. That’s another thing, I’m not aware that you can replace the pencils you’ll use the most singularly, rather you’d simply need to buy a whole new set.

Colourful pencils
The pencils inside the tin are beautifully arranged to tempt the user. They blend easily and are smooth to use. The Tim itself is strong but the plastic trays inside do seem rather flimsy.

Glad I've purchased these
As a colourist, I'd heard a lot about these and, of course, wanted to try them.Luckily they were on offer in the recent Amazon sale, so I was pleased with the price. They arrived quickly and safely and were well-packaged.The box of pencils were protected with a plastic bag. A cardboard sleeve kept the tin closed. On opening the tin, there was a foam protector and a Colour Swatch Sheet for us to record each pencil on.All pencils were in perfect condition. The 120 square-barrelled pencils looked so nice and I could see a great array of colours. I picked a couple out to test. They felt really comfortable to hold. The colour was well pigmented and I could do what I wanted to with layering and blending. I was more than happy to have bought them.A few days later, I used the set in a well-known quality paper colouring book. I achieved, in my opinion lol, a professional-looking result which, with patience, was easy for me to achieve with the smoothness of these pencils. They are not as soft as say prismacolor pencils but they aren't too hard or scratchy either.I have no faults to say about the pencils themselves. In my opinion, I would like to be able to buy open stock single pencils. My new sharpener seemed to enjoy eating these quickly and the ones I coloured with the most are already quite depleted after one colouring book page. I know now I need to sharpen slower!Overall, for a set of 120 pencils, I would like to recommend these as I don't think you could be disappointed.Maybe I'd like to see them at around the £22 to £25 mark, as a help to my limited budget, but I would pay the full price again to own these. (I bought another set in the sale to back me up for a while). If you enjoy colouring and trying out new supplies then I think you will find a new permanent set of pencils in collection.A good purchase from a good seller. All round perfect transaction and delivery.

Well worth the money
I have to say these are well worth the money, they blend really well and sharpen very well too with no breaks so far.. The packaging they arrived in was good and arrived all in one piece ..Plenty of colours to choose from, only complaint on the colours is they really don't match some of the colour names on the pencils but that is no big deal..colour chart in the box so you could if you wish to name you own colours.. The trays that they are in are very flimsy and that is a shame as the tin is ideal , but you do have to mind how you lift them out or pencils will be over the floor due to flimsy trays.. or maybe you might be better buying a pencil case to put them all in, which again I think is a shame as the tin is ver nice .Open stock would also be a good idea as you always use some pencils more than others and then run out of that colour , as far as I know they don't have open stock ( I might be wrong )..I use these for Grayscale colouring and for me they are brilliant, I like a choice of pencil and do have a wide range from expensive down to cheaper ones , they all come into their own depending on what you are doing ..Advice is give them a go

Crayon brutfuner
