Buy these if you need Tiny Muddy Clams for $1.33/per!
This review is on the “100 Live Littleneck Clams” sold by Charleston Seafood. These were a special Father’s Day gift for my 85 year old Dad. In our younger days we have dug literally thousands of clams together! Anyways, the Clams arrived and were packed in a Styrofoam container (inside a cardboard delivery box) with 4 frozen packs. They were still cold when delivered. Two clams were dead on arrival (would not close). Upon opening the Clams were VERY muddy. It was obvious that they were not soaked at all after being dug. 80% had some mud in them, and 30 % had so much mud it was necessary to wash them under faucet; which of course = no clam juice. The bigger draw back was they were SO SMALL you could hardly taste any clam meat at all. If we were out clamming and kept that size clam and were checked by a Game Warden there is a GOOD probability we would be facing HUGE fines because most were less than 1/2 " across the thickness (Florida law ). TINY, TINY CLAMS. Honestly, to give you an idea of how small; if you shucked the entire 100 and put them in a measuring cup, you would probably have less than 1/2 cup of clam meat. SAD! With the outrageous shipping theses clams come out costing $1.33/per!!!! The advertisement for these states: “Whether it's a CLAMBAKE or for CLAMS CASINO, you'll fall in love with these!” Ha! That HAS to be a very sick joke! …. these clams are so small the clam meat would incinerate and/or disappear in an oven, or under a broiler! Toss with the shell on top of some pasta for decoration is about all these would be good for. YOU GOT ME ONCE! … NEVER EVER AGAIN WOULD I BUY THESE.

Way overpriced
$64.19 for 100 littleneck clams. Are you kidding me? In the Northeast/Mid Atlantic states you can get 50 count bags of little necks at any Wegmans supermarket for $14.99. $65 is highway robbery..

Little neck
There not little neck clams! Little necks come 10-12 in a lb. do the math!!! That means there would be 400 clams to 40 lbs!!!!
