House: The Complete Series [DVD]

Great show, came in good condition just be careful taking out the discs the little nubs that keeps the discs in place are very snug and the disc could get cracked in the middle when removing to watch other than that it's great.

We thoroughly enjoyed this series. The writing and casting is superb, and you will find yourself hooked like House, and wanting to see where the story leads. The medical story lines are unique and educational.

Since there are no reviews on this yet and holidays are coming up I figured I'd make one. These are the Region 1 version of the House DVDs. Just like the other DVD complete collection of House released years ago, this one has the same outside cardboard artwork, just instead of 8 separate DVD cases with one for each season you get 2 giant plastic DVD cases, one for Season 1-4, and another for Season 5-8. If you have or have seen The Office DVD complete boxset with those two giant DVD cases then that's what you should expect. For House though they use the kind that has the DVD holder inside unattached from the outside DVD case, and they single stack discs with one on top and one on bottom of each side instead of some of the others that double stack with 2 on top and 2 on bottom of each side like The Office or How I Met Your Mother boxsets do. So be careful when you open it. Special Features seem to be exactly as outlined in the description for what to expect on what disc. Each disc is printed with what episodes are on it, and the inside of the giant DVD cases break down what episodes are on what disc, and what special features are also on what disc including which episodes have commentary. Some episodes have commentary but not a whole lot, and some seasons don't even have any. Each episode has English and Spanish subtitles and English 5.1 surround sound audio for the main audio. The outside box and both of those huge DVD cases claim that there is French 5.1 DD and French 2.0 DD audio but it does NOT exist for the whole series. I did not see any at all for Seasons 1-4, The first episode of Season 5 or the random Season 8 disc I checked that was loose from shipping and had a scratch when I checked to see if it worked. My guess is that either either Season 6 or 7 has it, or they just screwed up on the packaging and it doesn't exist at all. Definitely do not buy this if you care about French audio. At half the price of the other complete DVD collection at the time of this review I would wholeheartedly recommend it. I had a couple problems though. With so many discs I had one that was loose from shipping and when checked had a long scratch on it. Another still inside the case had some tiny scratches from where the disc rested. Both played fine but was worth mentioning. I'm watching it now so if I run into issues with playback I'll amend my review, otherwise this is a solid 5/5 release.

Was a gift for someone and they liked it.

This held up a lot better than I thought it was going to. I mean, it doesn't hold up entirely, there's a lot of early 2000's humor in this, but it's a lot more than I expected. This seems like a strange thing to comment on, but the person who did the closed captioning did a really good job! I'm currently going through season 4, and I found that one of the disks has a clear printing error. You know how you can look at a CD or DVD and tell which parts have data, and which parts are blank? Season 4 disk 4, in the middle of the data section has a ring where it's clearly corrupted. Since it's a clear ring, it seems like someone jostled the machine mid printing, causing it not to burn properly for a cycle before it fixed itself. If I try to watch that part of the disk, it fails (although if I fast forward through it, I can watch the rest of the episode... I just lose a minute or two due to error).

I purchased the 41 disk HOUSE MD dvd set. It was delivered very quickly. The 41 disks are housed in 2 ridiculous plastic containers that are difficult to get the disks out of. Also 1 disk had broken free and was severely scratched. I cleaned it with isopropol alcohol and a micro-fiber cloth and it actually played without any interruptions. To get rid of the boxes I bought a 25 pack of double sided CD jewel cases and transferred all of the dvd's to those. They are easy to open and remove the disks and for each season I put the disk one with the the label facing out - problem solved. A number of the disks do need cleaning as they have some dirt on them but that is OK.

The box was just shoved in to a plastic, unpadded shipping envelope. The corners were bruised. Everything else seems ok.

One of my favorite shows from back in the day. It was a little difficult to find but found it on Amazon and it was at my front door the very next day!
