Can it fit a 12 year old

It depends on how tall the kid is. My daughter is 5, but she is 48 or 49 inches tall. The robe was a little long, but only by a little. If you want the robe to go all the way to the feet, I would think the kid cannot be more than a little over 4 feet.

My son is 5 ft tall (which is 60 inches) Seems the 56 inch would be right for him, but Some say they wore the large at 5'6". Which size should I get?

This 40" long robe will fit your son. We also make this robe in 56" long. Please note that 40" & 56" long are measured from neckline and do not include the hood. 56" is approximately 4.6 feet and 40" is approximately 3.3 feet. We recommend you to measure your son from neckline. If he prefers the 56" robe and it's too long, some of our customers pin, sew, or use small binder clips to make the robe shorter.
