Fit perfectly
The kit worked perfectly. I had to cut off the bottom of the original spot where the cabin air filter will be applied. A Dremel worked best for me. Then used a bristle brush to clean the condenser of all debris from the years of not having a cabin filter, then used compressed air to blow it out, also turned on there air to push out any other debris and just vacuumed out all the debris and dirt that came out. The filter goes in a few inches at a time at an angle the lid that came with the kit fit perfectly, and screwed right in place.

Easy to install
This cabin filter was installed in a 2004 Chevy 2500 Silverado. I used an old soldering iron and filed the tip to a knife point. Scord the location where the filter would go. I finished cutting with a utility knife and trimmed any excess material off for a good install and fit. I was surprised that the heater core did not have much debris. I cleaned the area with compressed air, installed the filter, and installed the panel with the screw provided. Job complete. It took me longer to reinstall the shroud which had 3 screws.

Works good. Should have been done at the factory.
Hardest part was getting the cover out of the way. Mine did not come with the screw but I had one that fit. Removed the cutout with a razor knife and scoring multiple times before going all the way through. The included filter has V's cut in the frame to make it easier to bend for installation. My evaporator was dirty so I cleaned it with purple power and rinsed with water.

Worth the effort
Yes, GM shoulda did this from the factory. But the General will do anything to save five cents in aggregate costs across a million vehicles.Install is easy on a 2011 Yukon XL. First pull off the little gray plastic piece on the front part of the center console. Then loosen the three 7mm bolts holding the black cover shroud. The third bolt is reached easiest by a 1/4 ratchet and 7mm deep well socket. You'll see the piece you need to cut. Can't miss it. It has the grooves in it. Easiest way is to use a lighter and heat up your utility razor knife. Then run it inside the grooves in a steady slice. Reheat knife, slice between lines. Reheat knife, slice, heat, slice, etc. Eventually you'll break through. It takes some time to do this but I found the hot knife worked better than anything else and leaves a clean cut.If it is nasty in there consider getting the condenser cleaner stuff and do that since your there. The filter you will have to 'break' so it bends and can be fed into the slot. I put some essential oils on my filter for some smell. After the filter is in, put on the filter door and screw it down. Put on the black cover shroud. I left the hard bolt off the shroud because I didn't feel like dealing with it and the shroud isn't going anywhere with two other bolts holding it. Push the gray piece back on and be done.I don't know if it flows less air or not, but the air should be filtered now and it smells like orange oil.

PERFECT FIT for my 04 Yukon XL SLT
I had need to remove my HVAC box to RnR the AC evaporator coil, since there was an obvious musty moldy smell being blown out our vents. After removing the coil and realizing the evap coil had an embedded layer of trash and debris, and I wanted to keep my beloved 'Blukon' on the road well past her current 485K miles, I found this kit. Since I had easy access to the HVAC box and could cut a professional opening into the bottom of the box while it was out of my car, I used a small reciprocating saw and small hand file to cut a VERY nice opening and this filter and cover went in and on just as it should have been from the FACTORY!! GM, ARE YOU LISTENING??

Fabricate housing
I had a sealed unit on my 07 Silverado classic. I cut opening to my OEM housing in order to fit this cabin filter kit. It works good.

This retrofit kit worked great on my 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71
I removed the lower kick panel on the right side of the cabin. Then I used a dremel with a cut-off wheel to cut the rectangular piece along the apparent molded-in lines to make an opening for the filter. It didn't come out looking as perfect as if I were working at my workbench. I then used an abrasive tip to smooth out the edges. The filter provided in the kit fit fine, as did the new block-off plate to fill the cut out part. There's already a screw hole in the plenum for the included screw. One end of the block-off plate catches on the back of the plenum and hinges up to the front, where it's screwed in.I know that it works as I'm no longer showered with little bits of debris when I blast the fan.

2009 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 LT extended cab. 6.6ft bed
The process was pretty easy and self explanatory. Went really smooth. 15-20 minutes total. The plastic around the filter did break when installing. ( See Pics) It couldn't handle the full bend. But it won't affect anything. Overall Great price compared to others and easy install. Definitely recommend. Worked great on my truck.
