Good spy series
The Len Deighton books featuring Bernard Sampson interlock in an amazing way. Very clever writing. As a Christian however, I do not like the use of blasphemy which appears all too often.

Kept me guessing how it would conclude
This book builds on Berlin Game and builds a sense of doubt, using sharp twists in the plot, that Bernard Sampson has friends in SIS's management to avoid being seen as a liability.

Loved it!!!
I've absolutely loved this series of books. Each one is a stand alone novel but worked well as a long story across the whole series. The plot develops throughout and is wrapped up right at the end of the series - it's brilliantly written with a perfect blend of intrigue, humour and thrills. The main characters are fabulous and their roles also progress throughout the books. I love espionage stories and this is the best series I have read. I think Bernhard Samson's character is fantastic - a true, typically understated British hero, going about his job despite the restrictions placed on him by the British intelligence establishment.Well worth a read!

Gripping read
Not famiiar with Mexico, or Mexico City? This book will make you feel like you are there. Superbly written and very engrossing, you will want to keep turning the pages. The plot is satisfyingly complicated yet not hard to follow, as our hero navigates perils arising from the actions of numerous parties whose loyalties are not always obvious and may be revealed as being very different from what they first appeared. Definitely recommended for all spy fans but best not read before its predecessor in the series, "Berlin Game".

The second in the trilogy builds so well on the events of BERLIN GAME - the novel weaves through international locations and to tell you any more would spoil the plot - all I can say is that the characters grow and get stronger - the narrative expands and the book is really best read after reading the first (hence 4 stars) - these really are classics and need to be re-discovered by film makers and TV Producers.

Len Deighton Mexico Set
I'd never read any Len Deighton books until I accidentally downloaded one onto my kindle, 'Berlin Game'. I started it not really looking forward to it but reading it cos I'd paid for it! However, I loved it and couldn't wait to get the second book in the trilogy. Mexico Set was definitely up to expectation. I like the understated way in which it is told and the characters are so believable. I can't wait now to get the third book, London Match and look forward to another good read. If you are into spy fiction try these!

All the usual twists and turns
The tales are told simply in this series, but you are never quite sure where you stand as the story meanders along, sometimes curving gently one way and at others sharply veering the opposite way.As you begin to understand the destination you know that you will eventually arrive there, but not from which direction. Such is the art of a good storyteller.
