PYvideo Backup Camera Kit for Toyota Tacoma (2014-2015) Factory Radio

I ordered this backup camera kit for my 2014 Tacoma because it got great reviews and the price was the best I found. The kit I ordered kit was for a Tacoma that is pre-wired for a camera. I was very please with the contents of the kit and the entire experience. The installation, from the time I took the first screw out of the tailgate panel until I put the last screw back in, was less than an hour. I probably could have done it in less time, but I was pretty meticulous with the install. I watched a couple of videos before starting, but the included instructions do provide you with all you need. It's a very straightforward installation. There is a lot of extra cable, so you have to find creative ways to tuck it in here and there. The kit comes with zip ties and I used them all. The first four pictures show the routing and tying off of the cables. The last picture shows the the two things that have to be removed - the camera blank and the original cable.My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that you have to remove the original cable. The cable is there and routed back to the truck chassis, so why not supply a connector that fits the original cable. Why the make the installer remove the OEM cable? It wasn't hard to do, just seemed unnecessary.If your looking to add a back up camera to your pre-wired Tacoma, this is the way to go.

My pickup is a 2014 Toyota Tacoma, Access Cab, 2.7 engine, Auto Trans, trailer hitch with a tool box mounted on the truck bed behind the cab. The tool box makes in real hard to see what's going on in the rear of my truck when backing up.The Owner's Manual shows there's 3 radio systems. Basic Entune, Entune Audio Plus and Entune Premium Audio. The Entune Plus and Entune Premium radios only have the backup rear camera option. Was not sure if my basic Entune radio system display screen would support and backup camera option. So I took a chance and ordered this backup camera kit. Using the web You-Tube and the supplied instructions, installed the kit in about 1 hour. Soon as started the vehicle and put it in reverse, I saw for the first time what's going on at the ass end of my truck by looking at my basic radio's display screen. Even had an option show up on my radio for controlling the brightness and contrast of the rear camera display. Flipping Magic! Now, it really comes in handy when backing up anywhere and for hooking up a trailers. The display resolution is fine for me, sure beats an accident. It really works "GREAT" and its about half the price if the dealership install it.

Used it for probably 6 months fine then it would work intermittently. Now it doesn’t work at all. Not too difficult to install, disappointed it didn’t last longer I won’t be buying another

I have a 2015 Toyota Tacoma, 5 speed, access cab, base model. I was fortunate the truck was pre-wired for a back-up camera. I'm not very mechanically inclined and yet was able to install in 35 minutes. And it works just as advertised. Directions were spot on (even how to tell if your truck is pre-wired). I recommend watching YouTube installation videos as they were most helpful and confidence building.While I haven't driven much with the camera installed I'm confident it will do it's job.I'd highly recommend it.

Not sure how long it will last. Was looking for a factory original after a rear end collision ruined my factory installed camera. Clarity on this one is about the same. I feel that the viewing angle is narrower than the factory one. Ordered 2 other cameras from other sellers on Amazon at 120 to 140 bucks and found this one to be the closest match for my 2014 Tacoma. The upside of this camera versus the factory unit is that the parking guide lines can be removed thus allowing a better field of view. Again this camera has been adapted to work with the factory harness, it is not the original Toyota camera that comes with the vehicle. Only time will tell if it lasts. Would give 5 stars if viewing angle was like the original.

This backup camera was awesome at first, but it’s stopped working when the ambient temperature is above about 65 degrees. I checked the connections and it looks like the camera itself has malfunctioned. Bummer.

My truck was prewired but the connector right next to the camera mount did not match the connector that came with the camera kit. However, they do provide you with enough wire to replace the existing wire, that has the correct connections. That being said, it still only took less than 20 minutes to hook up. Camera quality is great. Very clear. Even at night, it is clear. I also like that once you install the camera, your touch screen registers it right away, so there isnt any downloading and installing software. Great buy for a great price.8/14/18 my tailgate was stolen and when i got a new one, i reordered this camera because of how much i liked it. again, easy to install and great quality.

Very good picture and the wiring adapter to factory wiring is worth a lot. Other cameras I looked at would have requiring messy splicing.I found the mounting angle to need some adjustment to provide a good back up picture (the way it came it was pointing too much at the ground)This could have been me, but be sure you are satisfied with the view before closing up the tailgate panel.
