Melissa & Doug Train Sound Puzzle - Wooden Puzzle With Sound Effects (9 pcs)

My 3 year old son loves this puzzle! The pieces are large and very easy for him to figure out and since it's a train he loves it!Once all the pieces are in their proper places a train whistle goes off. My son loves this! I think I have heard the whistle go off about 1,000 times in the few days he's been playing with it. I need to find him some more of these types of puzzles because it seems to motivate him and keep his attention when he knows once it's all together he'll hear the train toot toot.The detail of the image is very good and seems to be of high quality. The pieces are fairly thick so I'm not worried about my son breaking them when he drops them on the floor and steps on them. Same goes for the puzzle frame board itself. It's thick and seems like it will hold up against many drops and slams and tantrums.I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a fun and educational puzzle for their two to four year old. Any older than four I feel like there are more challenging puzzles they would be interested in and might be better for them.

Unlike similar puzzles where there is a sound EVERY TIME you put in a puzzle piece, this one only sounds the train whistle when the puzzle is completed. Nice for frazzled moms and dads who have to do it a thousand times. :-) Not only does it save parents' eardrums, it also gives your child a sense of accomplishment when the puzzle is done and the whistle sounds.

I like the quality, and the sound at the end of the puzzle is cool. My son just turned 2 and it is the perfect challenge for him, but not too hard.

Was bought as a gift for my Godson, he loves trains and puzzles, perfect combination! He opened his present and geeked out! he wanted to play right away! His mom found batteries and he started building. The sound is delayed for some reason, but eventually (After it was built and he was on to another puzzle) it did "choo choo" so i'm not sure why but it does work.

Assumed paying this much for a puzzle that batteries would be included but they weren't.

I bought this as a birthday present for my now 2 year old little boy. He loves all things trains and this was no exception. At first it was a little difficult for him to complete on his own, which in my book is a good thing because it is stimulating his brain. He was so excited when it made the train noise when it was completed. I have been a fan of Melissa & Doug toys for a while now and this did not disappoint!!-Also, so far, we have not experienced the train noise going off at random times like a few of the other reviews have said. I am not sure if theirs is a little sensitive to movement or maybe their batteries weren't working properly. Ours only goes off right after it has been put together. Hope this helps!!

I love the concepts in this puzzle. It covers numbers and colors and can grow with your child. The reason that it lost a star, however, was because some of the finger pieces are close to interchangeable. I would recommend it for a child 2 1/2 and up.

Brought this for my son when he turned two (3 months ago) and he still absolutely LOVES it. He loves trains and loves the realistic train sound he gets from completing the puzzle. This design is so much better than the newer cartoon version of this puzzle, I wish Melissa & Doug would stop replacing all of their realistic images with cartoon ones. Toddlers crave reality, fantasy comes later.....this is well known for anyone in the child development field. Anyway, despite my issues with the company, this is a great puzzle, highly recommended.

This is fun but the sound effects get a little annoying. Once they figure it out, they do it over and over. But I knew that when I bought it!! And I sent it home with their mom and dad....haha
