A layer of safety you cannot put a price on
I don't normally write reviews, but I'm going to take this time to thank the maker and seller of this product for potentially saving the life of my daughter. I have twin girls and like most five year olds, they don't always listen to dad. I had bought these "watches" to provide an extra layer of protection for my kids as we were renting an Airbnb in the desert for a short vacation. The rental had a pool that was not fenced and one of my daughters is not a swimmer. If she were to fall into the pool, unattended, she would drown. I had also purchased sliding glass door locks to make the route to the pool child-safe.Unfortunately, the door locks I purchased did not fit the tracks. So, the first thing I did when we arrived was test the turtle watches and put them on the kids. They loved them and wanted to wear them all the time, which made it so easy to put them on when we weren't swimming together. Although I told them not to go out to the pool, and they had to purposefully open the sliding glass door to get outside, they did so anyhow. I was unpacking our things when the alarm went off. It's a very loud alarm and it filled the whole house.I ran out to the back, and saw my daughter (the one who can't swim) leaning over the pool with her hand in the water. A few seconds or minutes later, and she might have been in that water. I hate to speculate. But I can say for certain that this little device might very well have saved her life. She also didn't try that again for the rest of the trip, because she saw my upset and concern. But, having those watches on the girls gave me better piece of mind. They wore those watches whenever we weren't in the pool, including when they were sleeping. At the end of the trip, they wantd to wear them for the trip home, so I let them. One thing that wasn't super clear in the description above is that the watches lock with a special key. They cannot come off without the key and they can fit any child wrist size. They are made of strong plastic and survived drops onto tile and inadvertent strikes against the cement pool wall. Also, the sensor works through walls. I had it set up to be in direct view of the pool, but two walls away the alarm went off when my daughter decided to get extravagant while washing her hands.I am so glad I bought these. I will use it for at least a couple more years until my girls are both super strong swimmers.

This is working pretty well for us
This is working pretty well for us. We got it for our 18 month old son as one of many defenses against drowning in his grandparents’ pool. He is also constantly monitored and wears a lifejacket. So far, so good. It can be a bit of a pain to get on, but once it’s on it’s easily locked into place. We’ve tested it several times and goes off when it gets wet. Sure, our little guy sometimes licks it or drips water on it and it’s pretty sensitive so it sets off the alarm. But those aren’t really false alarms since it just means it’s working. This has been a helpful part of keeping our little guy safe.

We have been very happy with this product
We have been very happy with this product. We test each band before putting them on the grandkids. (By putting just a drop of water on each one). We use them mainly at the end of the day when everyone is out of the water and attention is turned to meal prep and other things and not so much on the pool. Of course, these in no way take the place of eyes being on the kids, but as any parent (or grandparent) knows your attention could be diverted for 5 seconds and a little one can slip away. It's just another layer of protection. The unit did give one false alarm and I don't know why. It was in the middle of the night with no one in the house except my husband and I. The wristbands were in their usual storage place. I'll take an occasional false alarm to have a little extra piece of mind. It took me a few times to get good at getting the wristbands on the kids. I would turn their wrist upwards to thread the band through the latch and found it difficult. So then I figured out that if they hold their wrist straight out in front with the inside of their wrist facing the ground it will thread through easily. Very glad I made this purchase.

The one time we needed this to work it didn't. A nearly fatal flaw.
I think the other reviews are being generous giving 3 starts for a product that repeatedly breaks. The plastic on both green wrist bands has repeatedly broken for us. We've tried super glue and epoxy resin, and nothing will hold them together for more than a couple of wears by a two year old. Very poor design unfortunately.HOWEVER, I might have stuck at 3 stars if that was the only flaw. The *much* more serious issue is that one of our wrist bands stopped working all together and doesn't sound the alarm when wet, even when right next to the base station. We found out that it no longer worked when our son fell in the pool, and the alarm didn't sound. The other wrist band sounds the alarm just fine, and this wrist band had previously been working. You should really consider carefully buying a product that is supposed to help save your kids life that doesn't work 100% of the time. Every time. The one time we needed this to work, it didn't.

Works as advertised but could improve on design
These work well as advertised. However, there could be some improvement in the design of the wristband as far as attaching it to the child. They are somewhat cumbersome to get on, and if the child is wiggling at all or moving it can be very aggravating. Also, if the child is small and tries to bite at it to get it off their wrist, the moisture in their mouth sets off the alarm. This completely negated one of our children from being able to use it.

Great product!
These work great! We followed directions and check it for proper notification every time we put it on our granddaughter. We have open door notifications and this adds another level of security. She puts on her turtle bracelet as soon as she gets to Nannie and PopPop’s house. It helps that they are So, so cute!! 😊
