This book is amazing. I have been crocheting for about a year now and have just started learning flat items like shawls and blankets. I wanted to do something different than some pattern stitches that I have learned. And well let me just tell you, this book is amazing. It has so many different crochet stitches you can choose from. Every stitch has a pictures to explain how to do the stitch. Plus it has the step by step to do the stitch as well. There is also a layout pattern of the symbols of how to do the pattern too, which myself I am still trying to learn. But in the back of the book it gives you the meanings to each symbol and what it stands for plus all the abbreviations too. This is a handy book for sure when you want to do something more than just a few standard crochet stitches for items. Highly recommend getting this if you are wanting to learn more crochet stitches and if you are into making different things when crocheting (will not working for amigurumi since you need to do SC unless you are wanting to make wings or something that doesn't require stuffing inside it).

This is a great book showing different pattern styles you can use in your crochet projects. It shows pictures of each one, and how to make them. Also gives abbreviation meaning and stitch graph which I don't understand yet but can now learn. This book has more patterns than most others. Great buy price and primes fast delivery.

The book is clear and has great photos. I like the stitch organization. I thinknit would be a bit difficult for a complete beginner. I bought the book because I wanted stitches for Tunisian crochet. The description says it includes Tunisian crochet. It does not. Not a single mention. The fact that is said it included Tunisian is why I purchased the particular book. I think it is a very good reference book. However, description should be corrected.

Purchased as a gift. Good value and nice book. Great for every level crocheters. Wish I had purchased for me.

I’ve been crocheting for about a year now and have recently started more complicated patterns. I’ve also become one of those people that purchases yarn when it’s on sale without completely needing what exact project I may use it for (thanks Joanne’s). This book has every stitch imaginable, shows you what it looks like, shows you how it’s done, and gives examples of what it can be used for. The book itself also very well made with large color pages and clear text. I highly recommend this for anyone who is a seasoned pro or is starting to really get into crocheting. I had no idea how many different stitches there are and look forward to trying some on my next project.

After scanning through this book I'm really pleased with it. Each stitch has directions in both text and chart form. There's a dictionary of chart symbols at the back (some seem a bit different than I'm used to, so this is good) along with an index. The only odd thing I noticed -- very minor -- is that what I'm used to calling 'post stitches' (e.g. front post dc, back post dc, etc.) the author refers to as 'raised stitches' or 'relief stitches' instead. The table of contents is great. Though subsections of the stitch directory section are handled in a different way than I expected (outline form with stitches in each subsection listed below) it works well. The sections are marked with a horizontal bar using different colors for each subsection, with each stitch name and a small picture of the stitch underneath. My only concern with the TOC would be for anyone who has some color blindness as there don't seem to be other cues than color (such as alternating lighter and darker shades to make the break between subsections more visible). Each subsection does have the name printed at the beginning, but if you're scanning, that's not always so easy to see.
