HD Clear vs HP260 vs EZ Start
I bought all three of these Duck brand tapes for a move, and they are quite a bit different from one another.HD Clear: Thick. Easy enough to tear, once cut has started. Weak stickiness. Good for taping stuff to a wall without pulling the paint off later. Horrible at taping boxes together. Within 24 hours it had literally fallen off, on its own! Do not use for packing boxes unless you want all your belongings to crash onto the floor. Luckily I had taped up my boxes long before moving. Not sure what the HD stands for, but it's not Heavy Duty, I can tell you that. Good for safely taping things to walls, but not much else.HP260: Thick. Strong stickiness. Not easy to tear. This is the stuff you want to tape up your boxes. Will definitely take paint off walls. Will not go anywhere. You will need a knife to open your boxes after using this tape. I would choose this type to mail things with. Actually heavy duty, professional grade stuff.EZ Start: Thin. Like it says, easy to tear. Maybe too easy. Like aggravatingly easy, when you're trying to get a full strip going. Comes with an dispenser for a reason, but still a pain to use. Also not particularly sticky. Good for taping plastic tote lids onto tote bottoms, for a move, say. Not so good for brown cardboard boxes or mailing or anything that needs to be permanent. Weak and thin.HTH.

Best of 3 tapes we tried
We ordered three tapes from Amazon, in preparation for an upcoming move. The Duck HP260 was the best of the bunch: it had the best stick, was moderately strong/thick, and worked well in our ULine tape dispenser. Other tapes we tried were Gorilla Packing Tape--strong, had the best included dispenser, but didn't stick as well and was too wide for our ULine tape dispenser; and Scotch Long Lasting Storage, which was the thinest of the bunch with OK stickiness.

Excellent tape, the plastic dispenser could be better.
I normally use Scotch Heavy Duty Packaging tape (http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Packaging-Refillable-Dispenser-3850-RD/dp/B000GU437A/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1428091654&sr=8-7&keywords=scotch+dispenser), but decided to give this Duck brand tape a shot. The thickness of the tape--3.1 milimeter--is the same for this and the Scotch Heavy Duty Packaging tape. The Duck brand tape works great, holds strong, and dispenses properly without any accidental jagged tape slivers. I can't tell a difference between this and the Scotch brand. Very happy with the tape. However, the plastic dispenser that comes with the aforementioned Scotch tape is far superior in design and material to the one enclosed with the Duck brand tape. The Duck dispenser feels flimsy (the joint holding two halves of the tape together has come undone by itself during the normal usage). I ended up getting a Scotch Box Sealing tape dispenser (http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Packaging-Refillable-Dispenser-3850-RD/dp/B000GU437A/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1428091654&sr=8-7&keywords=scotch+dispenser) to use with the Duck brand tape and coulnd't be more pleased.Highly recommended!

Duck - HP260 Packaging Tape
Not all packaging tape is made the same!!I recently moved and purchased 3M's packaging tape instead of Duck and regret my decision of going for the cheaper tape.Since it was my first time using any type of packaging tape, I thought the loud sounds of the tape rolling off the roll was normal but it was so annoying so I decided to buy this tape instead. Now I can tape my boxes with peace of mind since this tape only has a slight sound at the beginning but it's not even noticeable unless you try.The tape is fairly strong and doesn't fray off into small strips and has great tack even when the package is chilled in the refrigerator. However, I found that Duck's standard packaging tape is the quietest tape there is but is a lot thinner than this one.

Useful
This packaging tape works just great for packaging up boxes and such to mail, but I have also discovered that it is the only thing that I can use for labels on silicone containers for storing in the freezer. Everything else I have tried falls off once the containers get cold this tape works like a charm. I just write the contents and date on the tape and stick containers in the freezer. Every other type of label or tape falls off. Bought the tape initially for package mailing, but now use it primarily for labeling frozen food.

Worth it
We just recently moved and this tape did the job. We had some boxes that were less than pristine and this tape held those boxes together. Would buy again. We used another tape gun and tape went on smoothly.

Purchased for simplicity of dispenser and ease of use
Tape is quite good. Have been using it for some time however my wife didn't like the commercial dispenser I currently own ie. confusing tape path and non-intuitive way of installing fresh tape rolls so I purchased this for her to save me back and forth trips to my shop. The dispenser is refillable with no real moving parts to break and is much smaller and lighter than most commercial dispensers. Good for occasional use ie. securely packaging and returning clothing purchases that should have fit but didn't.

Very strong/thick tape--had to use scissors instead of dispenser
This tape is super strong. I actually bought it because I needed the dispenser, but the tape is surprisingly strong. It is so strong in fact that it is difficult to cut the tape with the dispenser. Often I had to use a scissors. The tape finally ran out and I put in a Scotch brand roll and that tore easily, but the Scotch tape is not as thick/strong as this. If you need heavy duty clear shipping tape, this is great, but don't expect the dispenser to be of much use with this particular tape since the tape is so thick/strong.
