I think it does help remove old product from your hair, but it does not make good suds for washing. A little unsatisfying as a shampoo. I think of it as a means to an end.

I'm one of those people that has a lot of long, fine hair, so build up can really make my hair look gross. I was looking for a shampoo to use once or twice a week to remove build up and this has been great. I love the way it smells and the way my hair looks and feels after. I'm allergic to some perfumes, but this hasn't given me any trouble. I would highly recommend this product!

Like water, it's so thin. Smells good, but I have to wash my hair after using this as a clarifier

ABSOLUTE WORST! Before buy I read a review that the sulfate-free new product is not the same as the original one. I thought "how bad could the new one really be?"...answer, really bad. I've bought this brand in clarify for years now, either at stores like TJ Maxx or others like HEB or Fry's. I bought one large like this one from here before and it was okay. When I got the new sulfate-free one I could tell the bottle was different and the scent or smell of it. I didn't use it at first because I bought it to be ready for when I was out of the other bottle. I didn't realize I ordered a sulfate-free one. I ended up with both in my shower one day, older one and new one. I noticed the older one showed "sulfate-free" on the small packaging label, so they had to be the same, right? Nope! I washed my hair one time with the newer one and immediately smelled chemicals, not the rosemary or another other smell like the first bottle of this stuff I've ever bought. Strike 1. In using the new bottle I realized I had to wash my hair at least two time and even with that if left my hair feeling like grime or something was left on it, even if my hair was washed the day before or not that dirty. Strike 2. I've used the bottle for a few weeks now and noticed that my hair smells like bed-head even after immediately washing it, yes still two or three times because one wash doesn't work. Strike 3. Well I'm out from buy this product from this company online every again...which stinks.

Leaves head nice and clean..Grows faster . With nice shine...

I was hoping this shampoo would work on me. I don't feel like it cleans my oily hair.

I have fine, straight below-shoulder-length hair. I regularly use a moisturizing shampoo along with daily styling products. Over time, my hair feels a bit limp and heavy. I bought this Rusk Clarifying Shampoo based on the good reviews here, and I'm not disappointed. I use it once a week along with my regular conditioner (Loma Daily Conditioner). My hair feels clean and residue-free. When I ran out of my regular shampoo, I used the Rusk about four times in a row, and it was a bit drying. It works perfectly for me though when used only for periodic deep cleaning. I only need to use a little and shampoo once as it lathers well and is easy to distribute through my hair.This is a huge heavy bottle that won't fit in your shower caddy, and I sure wouldn't want to drop it on my foot in the shower. I transfer it to a smaller bottle. Alternatively, you could add a pump. The scent is kind of a rosemary-menthol... It reminds me a bit of men's shaving cream. It's pleasant in the shower but doesn't linger on your hair. This large bottle is a good deal for the price and it will last me for months.

Not happy with this shampoo. Gives me dry flyaway hair. I realize it is a clarified shampoo, but it strips.Also Rusk was vegan but not anymore. Will not be buying anymore Rusk products.

I had ordered the product of 33.8 fl. oz.However, the product sent to me is of 13.5 fl. oz. Less than half the size!Besides I had already paid for it. Very disappointed.
