sharp and effective. Would be better if the plastic tip was a little sharper and if the top part of the plastic in front of the blade was an edge for breaking the last little pit of stubborn envelopes.

Slice like a razor should!
Purchased Amazon's best seller black letter openers with 4.7 rating, 255 reviews (MY DESK on card) and thought they were almost worthless. These also had a 4.7 rating from 71 reviews. I read some of the reviews for these and ordered. They did not disappoint.There is a narrow space between the blade and body. This forces the envelope into the blade. It can't go into the corner and smush up the paper which happens with the black openers. These slice like a sharp razor blade should. Under a 7x magnifier, the blade has a good finish with a smooth secondary cutting beveled edge. I'm tossing out the black. They aren't worth keeping around.

Love, love, love these! Never thought opening envelopes could be so much fun. Seriously, these have made opening all my mail that I'm flooded with so easy to open. I'll never be without letter openers ever again. Thank you!

Not The Best...
Wanted to love these; they're just okay. They cut envelopes okay, but getting them started in the envelope flap is a pain. The problem is the pointy end that slips under the envelope flap--it is too rounded--so you have to fiddle with it to get it started. Not sure I'd recommend.

So sharp
The blade on each of these is incredibly sharp. The first time I used it I thought I hadn't opened my envelope. I could not see the space where the envelope opened at the top. Everyone in the office loves these. We had the knife shaped openers previously, and only one employee was able to smoothly open mail. Now we all can. Great product.

Sm all and efficient
I had one similar to this years ago, but lost it somewhere along the path of moving. It gives the cleanest cut and is handy to have more than one. I hate tearing open envelopes.
