I bought these to light fireworks with and light for the area. They were great! Not to bright that the fireworks could not be seen, but enough to see to run away. Talk about easy to light a punk or sparklers for the little kids. I am very happy!!!

Every vehicle should have one.. especially those who drive backroads with blind turns or frequently at night. They literally can be a lifesaver. 30 minute flares burn hot and won't go out unexpectedly. Orion has mastered this art..

I've always believed that road flares can save lives especially in today's world. With as many people on their phone as we have today every opportunity you have to alert them to your presence you should take. 30 minutes is good so you've got time to change a tire while making sure your warning traffic if you can't get on the shoulder far enough or even worse if you're on the traffic side of the car. The packaging has a nice carrying handle that was good to take it to the garage with but wouldn't really serve a purpose otherwise and the nylon case make it a good bag to reuse when you need to pick up more flares. These are good for auto purposes AND you could use them for emergency signalling if you go off the road in a snow storm or something of the like. This is definitely one of those things I would rather own and not need than need and not own.

Can't give it a 5 yet without firing some up on the road. I am totally pleased with the flare kit, the condition they were in, the appearance of excellent workmanship, the road carrying case, etc. I plan on taking a 4X4 road trip to north central Colorado this winter with my wife, hoping not to have to use them.. I bought 2 sets just in case...I drive alot and I have seen first hand how most moronic drivers don't move over to the outside lane when someone is on the side of the road. If I have to chain up on the trip i don't want any slow brained driver on their cell phones texting or talking report they could not see me. I definitely plan on using them even if I have to abandon the xterra. The general public now has no regard for others so I will not hesitate to strike up the flares if needed.

This kit comes with 6 - 30 minute flares in a convenient carrying case. One side of the case has Velcro that attaches firmly inside your trunk. There is an orange vest in the case that is nice to wear in the daytime but kinda at night (this vest does not come with any reflective tape). When you light and try to position it, spread them out approximately 10-15 feet away from each other. Give yourself a good space in your safety zone.Just be careful when you light up these flares as they burn at approximately 1400 degrees. Road flares contain phosphorus, which can be hazardous if inhaled. Try not to look directly at the flame and never hold the flares in your hand to direct traffic. Be aware of spilled oil or other hazardous materials that might ignite from the flares.

Well worth the money

I ordered this product for my dad as part of an emergency kit I put together for him to have on the farm where he works all day building things, driving and working on farm equipment, cutting wood, etc. He is miles from any house and even further from the hospital so it will well in case of an emergency.
