Just the inspiration our church needs right now....
Two years ago our church was growing but then something seemed to happen. We can't put our finger on it but we've just seemed to have lost something. I think most people who attend are still deeply passionate for the Lord but enthusiasm seems to have wavered, attendance is on the decline and young people just don't feel like attending our Sunday services. I read this book in a couple of sittings and was really inspired! Craig has identified exactly what we're missing and gave me hope that there is something we can do about it! I have send a copy to my pastor to read and about to send off more copied for each of the deacons to read. If you're in a leadership position and can relate to your church having lost something then i recommend this book. Once you're read it you'll be fired up again, but please don't hang on to it and pass it on. Enjoy!

There are a lot of Christian books out there for leaders and by leaders. The author leads a large american church, this of course gives him real insight about leading and from taking something from concept to a massive scale. As for how this all relates to the UK church..... well bits do and most doesn't. There is definitely some good stuff in here and it's interesting hearing about his journey of faith and relationship with God. However, as with a lot of books there is some filler. I would say that I don't regret buying it at all.

Interesting book. If you are actively part of any ministry, you have gone through the highs and lows. You intuitively sense when God is active and working and putting a straight road in front of the ministry, and you also know when Jesus has left the building. What I enjoy about this book is it is a hands on explanation of What happened, why, and most importantly - the critical factors that Pastor Craig saw looking back through the rear view mirror. When you are struggling within a ministry - you rarely have the correct perspective, time or patience to see the problem. You just know something is missing. Many times what is missing is: PRAYER, FOCUS, LISTENING to what GOD is saying, distracted by doing too many things averagely.I love his section on pick the one thing you can be excellent at - and then spend your tine energy and resources on that one thing. This project OR that, rather than This AND that AND the next item.It is a hard book to start, it takes a while to get past the over use of the IT in it. - But trust me - take the time plow on - there are nuggets for your soul in this book.David Spatz ~ Jertex Networks

Great book
Great book. Shows that we can't go far by relying on our own efforts.Something you have to experience. Once you experience It, you know what this book is talking about.

Challenging
subsequent to reading this book I was pleased to hear the author in person. This is well researched and for an older Christian, it is very challenging. There is no doubt that cultural secular beliefs are being accepted by young people raised in the church, even when those beliefs clearly conflict with scripture. It would be nice to see a follow up book where the author re-interviews and polls the same population of young people now that they have a few years of adulthood under their belts.

It's not about you at all!
This book is about the struggles of our lives. Most of them in ministry terms, but also in our personal lives. And, as I wrote in the headline, it's not about us at all. To have IT is to live totally for God. But it is not as hard as it sounds. Craig gives great examples and stories to explain it all.The book is very easy to read, and the topic is urgent. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll get it.

Eye Opening Book
I bought this book years ago and read it. I bought it to read to help a ministry I was a part of at the time, and I discovered some real gems in the book that helped me in my personal life. God really used it to speak to me and to push me to face my own issues. I loaned it to someone else and have no clue where it ended up, so I recently purchased the Kindle version. It was so great to read it again and now I have a copy to refer back to when I need it.
