Boating, Biking and Hiking the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal

I am so grateful for this book and the author’s first, Narrowboating for Beginners. I have been planning our first narrowboat trip and both of these books are invaluable. The first book gave me the confidence to choose a narrowboat vacation. Once we decided on narrowboating, we had to choose a canal, which is no small feat for a first-timer. After many youtube videos and posts on the canalworld forum and getting suggestions from other narrowboaters, we settled on the Mon and Brec. This book has answered all my questions and challenges about narrowboating on this canal – where to stay, which boat company to hire, how to get there (we won’t have a car), renting bikes, and even how to pronounce Welsh place names. In addition to being very informative and comprehensive, the author’s wit and writing style make both books fun to read. Highly recommend!.

This is a fabulous resource for anyone planning to spend time on or near this canal. There are loads of links to on-line resources, and the writer's humor makes it a fun read. She also has a wonderful book for beginner narrowboaters.
