GE Lighting 72275 GE232-MV-N 120/277-Volt Multi-Volt ProLine Electronic Fluorescent T8 Instant Start Ballast 2 or 1 F32T8 Lamps

I have purchased and installed 4 of these. They are reasonably priced, directions for installation are printed on the ballast, you will need 3 screw caps to reconnect two blue and one red wires on the new ballast to the socket wires for the florescent bulbs. It takes about 15 minutes start to finish to set up ladder, turn off the light, remove clear plastic cover, remove bulbs, (if done carefully you can replace by only removing one bulb), take off metal cover by pushing the long sides towards the middle so that the sides of the cover are released from the slots they are in, use wire cutters to clip the 2 blue and 1 red wires, remove screw caps from black and white wires that connect old ballast to power feed wires, strip the ends of the 2 blue wires and one red wire to expose bare wire, remove screw holding burned out ballast and slide ballast out from slot, install new ballast and put the screw the secures the ballast back in, reconnect the five colored wires that were clipped to the same colored wires on the new ballast & secure the connections with screw caps, put metal cover back on, put bulb(s) back in, turn light on to verify connections are good, put plastic cover back on, remove ladder.

I bought several inexpensive two tube 4 foot fixtures using 32 watt T8 bulbs from one of the big box hardware stores. The fixtures were inexpensive however some of the factory "Sunpark" branded ballasts have failed. I used this GE ballast as a replacement and it works fine. As other reviewers have mentioned there is a very slight delay of about 1/2 second for the light to come on once power is applied. I do not find this objectionable and likely only something you will notice if there are multiple lights installed so that you can spot the delay. This ballast was a few inches longer than the factory ballast. I removed the old ballast and used two #10 3/4 inch screws to secure the new ballast after drilling a small pilot hole in the sheet metal of the fixture. The old ballast had 7 wires for the bulbs as well as line, neutral, and ground. This replacement ballast has only 3 wires for the bulbs as well as power and ground. It was easy to install the replacement GE ballast. I was able to re-use the wiring in the existing fixture, just shorting together all leads at one end of the fixture and feeding those with one output from the ballast. The other two wires from the ballast feed the other end of each of the two tubes.

One of the two lamp overhead fixtures in my workshop would turn on if it had been turned off for a long time, but would not come back on if I turned it off and tried turning it back on after a few minutes. I found that the original ballast used in the fixture had been discontinued, so I opted for this product as a replacement. I ordered it on Prime, got it in 3 days, and installed it in about 20 minutes. The fixture now works perfectly every time I turn it on.

These were purchased to replace some terribly unreliable ballasts in some fixtures bought at the big box Depot store. I like the simple wiring in this ballast. The ballasts these replaced used 6 wires to two lamps. These use 3 wires to two lamps. I like the fact that the failure of one bulb doesn't cause the 2nd bulb to fail to illuminate. They're quiet enough so I can't hear them - that's good. The wire lengths are sufficient. I might give them 5 stars if the "instant start" claim was strictly true. Yes, I'm being picky, but the start is delayed about 1/2 second. No big deal but other "instant start" lights in my home truly are instant so whenever I turn these on, there's a moment's concern that something's wrong.

I needed a 2-lamp instant-start ballast that could power Philips InstantFit LED T8 tubes in both USA (110 Volts @ 60 Hz) and India (240 Volts @ 50 Hz). So I selected this GE multi-voltage model from the list of compatible ballasts published by Philips. First I successfully tested a single InstantFit T8 tube in USA with this ballast - then I installed the same ballast with 2 InstantFit T8 tubes in India, where it also works fine.

These ballasts work perfectly to convert old T12 4 foot dual bulb fluorescent fixtures to accept T8 bulbs. Pay attention to the wiring diagram on the ballast itself and be sure your light sockets (called tombstones) are shunted. You can shunt non shunted tombstones yourself with a short piece of insulated wire run side to side or buy shunted replacements.

The is a non-consumer (i.e. commercial) ballast, not intended for residential use. It meets FCC Part 18A regulations. Ballasts meeting Part 18B are meant for residential use, because they produce less radio interference.

Work very well with my T8 LED Lamps. It was a little ticker than the old original Philips, so the "cover" had to be forcer a little to fit. The screw were exactly at the same spot. It's also a little slower (0.5 sec) than the old Philips (I can see all the others light open before this one), but does the job for me !

Hooked this up to a screwed up 13 year old ballast. Followed basic wiring patterns (although new ballast used several less leads to either side of new ballast) and voila it worked like a charm. Also put in new LEW lights. Very nice results. Happy.
