No coding required!
Learning Resources Coding Critters Go Pets Zing The Dog, Early Coding Toy, Ages 4+, is a silly dog that shoots out of the doghouse, depending on how hard you hit the button on top. My granddaughter thinks this is hilarious and has a blast with it! The booklet has different adventures/experiences for the dog to go on. One example is to choose a path. Place the doghouse on your chosen path, with the dog inside, and hit the button. Out shoots the dog! Cute and entertaining!

Lame
If I were a kid, I might get excited if this were in a Happy Meal. I mean, I've seen Coding Critters and was expecting so much more. This is just so disappointing. The other Coding Critters follow a little path that you build. Very cool. This is just a dog that rolls out of a dog house when you push the button. The activity book is just as lame. It's like giving a kid a stick with a book telling them all the cool STEM possibilities you can do with the stick. Use the stick to knock a bunch of cans over! Use the stick to hit a ball on the floor! Use the stick to build a structure with more sticks! Endless fun and possibilities! For them to call this early coding is like calling the stick early engineering. What a disgrace. I would be willing to pay $1 for this from the dollar store, but that would be about it. It will keep your child occupied as long as a dollar store toy will.

Simple and effective STEAM toy
The media could not be loaded. This is my first experience with the Coding Critters Pet Poppers and I am enjoying the idea behind this toy. Our current coding critters all require button pushing to make them go in the correct direction, but actual coding isn’t required with the pet poppers. This is a simple toy, with a dog house that has a button on the roof that is attached to a small lever that pushes the dogs back when it is in the house. The dog is on 4 small wheels to move easily across slick surfaces. The idea behind this pet popper is to complete different challenges throughout the 20-page colored booklet and test different angles, force, etc. when launching the dog. This is perfect for ages 4+, and maybe even some 3-year-olds would enjoy it. The booklet would require someone with reading abilities to explain each challenge to small children at least once, while the colorful illustrations help as a reminder for future play challenges. It is a great toy for STEAM development and is made with quality materials and bright colors. I’m a big fan of the Learning Resources brand and love that this is a simple toy with many challenges that kids can work to solve.

Great add-on
My niece (4 yrs old) has the fox set and this little doggie was a nice addition. Great entry level coding toy for kids 4-5, might be a bit too easy for kids much older. Super fun!

Not quite as good as other coding critters
This set of coding critters has a dog on wheels, doghouse and an activity book. You put the dog in the house and depending on how hard you hit is how far it goes. The others ones have been hours of fun for my kids but this one they were bored with in about five mins. Definitely get others in this series but skip over this one.

Not a coding toy
It's just a toy. I have other coding type toys for this age range and they have more "coding" than this. It's a good idea, bad execution. Kids don't care though, they'll still play with it, but I was wanting something with a bit more "learning" involved.

Cool toy
Cool toy. For now my 3.5 yo is playing it as an imaginative toy, I guess the intent to teach physics will have to come a little later. But super cool idea.
