From George Miller, the acclaimed director of The Road Warrior, The Witches of Eastwick, Lorenzo’s Oil and Mad Max: Fury Road, comes this post-apocalyptic masterpiece starring screen legend Mel Gibson (Lethal Weapon, Braveheart, Payback). In the ravaged near-future, a savage motorcycle gang rules the road. Terrorizing innocent civilians while tearing up the streets, the ruthless gang laughs in the face of a police force hell-bent on stopping them. But they underestimate one officer: Max (Gibson). And when the bikers brutalize Max’s best friend and family, they send him into a mad frenzy that leaves him with only one thing left in the world to live for—revenge!Special Features:DISC 1: HDR Dolby Vision-Audio Commentary with Art Director Jon Dowding, Cinematographer David Eggby, Special Effects Artist Chris Murray, Moderated by Filmmaker Tim Ridge-Australian 5.1 Surround & 2.0 Lossless Mono-U.S. English Dubbed 2.0 Lossless Mono-Dual-Layered UHD100 Disc-Optional English SubtitlesDISC 2: BD50 Blu-ray-Road Rage: NEW Interview with Director George Miller-Interviews with Stars Mel Gibson & Joanne Samuel and Cinematographer David Eggby-Audio Commentary with Art Director Jon Dowding, Cinematographer David Eggby, Special Effects Artist Chris Murray, Moderated by Filmmaker Tim Ridge-Mel Gibson: Birth of a Superstar-Mad Max: The Film Phenomenon-Theatrical Trailers-TV Spots-TRAILERS FROM HELL with Josh Olson-Radio Spots-Australian 5.1 Surround & 2.0 Lossless Mono-U.S. English Dubbed 2.0 Lossless Mono-Optional English Subtitles

Necessary for completionists even if you own a collection with Warner 4k included
This version of Mad Max produced by Kino Lorber is necessary for those that want to most complete Mad Max collection because of a couple of key points:1. This release is the only release to include both the original Australian audio track as well as the American dub audio track. I watched the American Dub for the first time when this edition arrived, and it was spectacularly bad! It made the movie feel really dated in a funny way.2. This includes newly produced interviews that are exclusive to this edition.3. This 4k incudes Dolby Vision support which the Warner 4k disc does not. This is despite the 4k disc having a Dolby Vision logo etched onto it.All in all, this is a wonderfully produced 4k. I sincerely hope that The Road Warrior Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome get a boutique release one day, though that is probably unlikely.

Classic Movie and Great 4K Transfer
One of the best action movies ever made, and it looks excellent in 4K. I enjoyed hearing the USA dubbed audio because that's how I first heard it.

Saga of an Australian highway patrol officer in a dystopian future
"Mad Max" stars Mel Gibson as the title character in Gibson's first starring role. Released in 1978 by AmericanInternational, the movie takes place in Australia " a few years in the future". Max Rakatansky is a star memberof the Main Force Patrol, a highway police force which mostly patrols the rural highways and small towns of southern Australia, although their decrepit and damaged headquarters building is located in a large city, probablyMelbourne. The viewer gets the impression that Australia has been mostly spared in a large catastrophe ( a globalwar?), but there are the signs of decay in civilization nevertheless. While there is a degree of normalcy, the citizens and police have to deal with "crazies" and "scags" on the roads and in the isolated country towns. Dealing with horrific, high-speed traffic accidents -often after police pursuits- is the norm for the officers of the MFP. Max, the department's best pursuit driver, is thinking about leaving the force because his wife hates his job and they have a toddler son. During the pursuit of a cop killer who was driving a stolen police car, a member of an especially vicious outlaw biker gang is killed in a fiery car wreck while being pursued by Max, and the gang's leader swears vengeance on the young officer. What follows will be the defining moment in this fictional character's life.Good scifi-type film of a dystopian future, which spawned a raft of mostly poor imitations into the late 1980's."Mad Max" has a late 1970's look, which is now rather nostalgic in that I was 22 when the film came out.

Unbelievable transfer!
Mad Max on 4K is an absolute stunner of a disc! Kino Lorber took an ok blu ray transfer and made the film come to life again. This was the first 4k from Kino Lorber I ever bought and they’ve done amazing work ever since. If you still haven’t upgraded your old blu ray of Mad Max then get this edition asap! One of the best 4k discs I own hands down!

Wow
1979's MAD MAX looked pretty darn good when it first came to blu-ray disc, but the 4K is very nearly mind-blowing. You do get both the original Aussie soundtrack and the U.S. American 1980 soundtrack on the 4K, but it's the picture quality, on 4K, that absolutely rocks. Especially if you "max out", or nearly so, the Contrast on your 4K player, boost the Brightness a tad, and maybe boost Color one notch. The 4K video quality on this title is crazy good. I've got a pretty big 4K tv screen, so 4K does make a noticeable difference. This one's a Rocker, a Roller, a right-out-of-controller, no doubt.

Mel Gibson In That Leather Suit, GOD is good!
I saw this movie when i was 6 or 7 years old. One of the reasons I love it is because Mel Gibson was the first White man I fell in love with! This movie was cutting edge and futuristic back in the day, but by today's standards its quite outdated! So my review is nostalgic and pensive for the 80's. The cast, and their cool names, are awesome! My favorite "freak" was Johnny The Boy! Also, Mel Gibson's body in that leather suit, GOD is good!
