Essential Mario on the Go!!!!
EssentialAs with Amazon arrived in great time new and unopened.I would have liked a little extra with the package for pre-order like a figure or some collectible as I do feel Nintendo have just put 3 games together and released withoutany fanfare. These are not remasters - perfect as they are so didn’t need one - soIf your expecting Mario 64 in Odyseey graphics then this is not for you but saying that they have been improved slightly - Galaxy though is full HD.With the Nintendo switch it’s such a great console as you can play on the big screen and handheld so this game was a no brainer.I’m a massive Super Mario Fan - had Super Mario World on SNES for Christmas as a child. But I never purchased an N64, GameCube but I did have a Wii - but only played Super Mario Galaxy 2! So this collection to me was essential to play all 3 Mario games - retro games without an emulator in a nice package on my switch - sold!Super Mario 64Firstly for this one the screen does have black lines to cut down to the desired ratio. It plays wonderfully on the switch but is definitely dated - which of course it will be. I still wanted to play it so I would think for people who love N64 Mario absolute nostalgia for them with this one - plus you can play handheld which is always the plus with the switch. I do feel the younger generation won’t appreciate this Mario game and it’s prob a miss from them - although graphically looks like Minecraft lol.Mario SunshineWhat a fun Mario game looks great and plays wonderfully again I missed this first time round so get the chance to play on my switch. Graphics wise it looks fine - nothing astonishing but looks decent. Only done a little bit but I’m excited to play a full Mario title onmy switch that I’ve never played before.Super Mario GalaxyWell really this is why I purchased the package because I Loved SMG2 on wii, never got to play this one and now it’s on my switch - on TV mode it looks fantastic! And the wii controls within the switch joy-cons work superbly. On Handheld what’s not like it’s a HD Mario game on handheld it looks and play fantastic - touch screen can be used in handheld mode too, again it looks immense.A must must for Mario fans that have not experienced these games if you have played all 3 already you’d prob wait for a used copy elsewhere. Other than the games you get soundtracks but that’s a bit meh.I just hope we get SMG2 now on Switch because the port of the SMG1 is wonderful!

Classic games with some bad changes
I recently found my old N64 in the attic and plugged it into my large flat screen TV, the original N64 was made for much much smaller screens …it looked terrible. So I can attest to recent 1st hand experience that they have smooshed the graphics and it looks great on a big flat screen TV. Sunshine looks incredible but the GC was so ahead of it’s time (GC emulators are very thin on the ground and need a pretty powerful PC to run) Galaxy looks the same (it wasn’t that long ago) …BUT lets talk changes (and the no changes)…Not changed: The camera on Mario64 still sucks balls, it was always dreadful, I’m sure a Nintendo Elf could have sprinkled some magic code and got the thing to work, but no it still wobbles about managing to always be in exactly the wrong place.Changed: And now the ultimate sin which won’t bother many people so I doubt it will get patched. They have inverted the controls which means they are now ‘normal’ and there is no menu to change. The original Nintendo games always had inverted controls and I think this influenced me in looking for the ‘invert Y’ part of the menu in every game I have played since. I’ve played Sunshine for a while now and I am okay with the controls until I’m under pressure then muscle memory kicks in and I’m squirting water at the floor. So please Nintendo I love you please can I have a ‘invert Y’ in the menu (put it in the one on the – button so you won’t have to do any fancy design)They are stone cold classic games Mario 64 despite the camera is one of my favourite games of all time and it plays will on the switch. Sunshine looks incredible and is just as unrelentingly tough as I remember (those void levels are pure rage quit inducing evil ..but fun). TBH I’ve not played Galaxy other than opening up the 1st galaxy just to have a look as it didn’t have the same nostalgic pull as the other 2. It’s a good enough port, it’s a shame they didn’t fix more than bad grammar (They have got rid of the charming SHINE GET! Why?) and inappropriate language (so long gay Bowser)If they patch the inverted controls I’ll give it 5!
