Lens screws inside
First install the adapter, very easy.Then, screw in your desired lens.The actual hood will fit over the lens and fits with a click.Plastic is better than metal. I had a metal adapter and it scarred the lens fitting. This fits my SX 70 perfectly

This is the hood to get if you intend to use a filter such as a Polarizer
This has proven to be a very sturdy hood but it is tricky to mount and dismount. If you agoing to use it on a trip be sure to practice mounting and dismounting it.Teh hood has twp parts, the hood and the mount disk. The disk holds filters. It is often convenient to leave the disk in place and just take off the hood if you not using it. Putting the hood on the mount disk is a lto easier than mounting the disk.

Protects lens from light, sun and rain and damage.
I ordered it as my old one got banged up too much and was too loose and would fall off. It is better than the canon one that is ridiculously too small and didn't seem like a lens hood and was a lot more expensive. I received it quickly and it helps protect the lens from light, sun and rain and from anything that can damage the lens.

Works great!
Once the adapter was on, this lens hood fit perfectly. Not sure why Canon doesn't include an OEM setup like this with the SX70. Oh, well...this works great!

Hard to get on.
Took me several tries to get the filter/shade holder to click into place on the lens. I probably won't ever take the filter holder off as it was such a pain in the neck to get it on correctly. And if you forget to press the little button on the side of the shade when you take it off to turn it around, the filter holder comes with it. Also, the lens cap no longer fits when using a UV filter. I had to by a new 67mm lens cap.

No Instructions and Doesn’t Fit the G3X
This item seems to be well-made, but unfortunately it does not work for my Canon PowerShot G3X. There are no instructions included of any kind, and despite watching videos online to see if that might help, the adaptor ring simply will not twist into place on the threads around the lens. The resistance is such that I am worried I will break the camera if I continue attempting to attach it. I should have ordered the official Canon version of this item. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.
