Very sturdy, works great for kids and adults
If using for little kiddos, make sure to watch small fingers! But this works perfectly for physical therapy and balance needs! The top is a "sandy" and "scratchy" feeling, which gives some good grip with all kinds of shoes, or barefoot. Very sturdy, wood feels very solid.

Affordable therapy device
My husband is recovering from a stroke that's impaired his balance. His physical therapist has him using a professional balance device that's basically a board attached to a squishy rubber ball. He's supposed to try to balance and/or shift his weight from side to side or front to back and needed the proper equipment to practice at home. The device the therapy practice uses is available on Amazon, but it costs over $170 dollars. This version isn't quite as good, because it doesn't demand 180 degrees of balance the way the squishy ball support does, but it does work very well for the main directions. It can be used either for side-to-side or front-to-back balance. It's proving to be quite sturdy. It's very reasonably priced. We even popped it in the car and took it on vacation with us so he was able to continue doing therapy while we were away from home. It's proving to be a very useful purchase, and I recommend it as a cost-effective at-home substitute for the much more expensive professional grade equipment. It comes fully assembled (which was great because all we had to do was take it out of the box) and includes two extra non-slip adhesive strips that I guess are meant to replace the ones under the rockers if they ever wear out. I don't think we'll need them for a long time because the device is sturdy, but they're a nice extra.

Good leg workout while standing in one place
The media could not be loaded. I use this balance board for hours a day while at my standing desk. The balance board keeps my body "moving" while staying in one place. It's more comfortable for me than standing still or sitting for hours on end at my computer, and I get a great work out while I'm working. The board itself is sturdy. It's not too easy or too hard to balance. The bottom and top have slip-proof surfaces for safety and they are effective. The top slip-proof surface feels gritty like sandpaper, so it's best to wear shoes. The videos I've seen demonstrate balancing side-to-side. You can also balance front-to-back, but be careful to stand in the middle of the board when doing so, because the round supports on the underside do not go to the edge so it can tip to the side when you have only one foot on the board, such as when you get on and off it.Overall, it's a really good product, and a wonderful tool to use while standing at a tall desk.

Good balance board for stability
I found the balance board easier to use for stability than the one I was using during PT. With the solid roller underneath it is easier to maintain balance. It still works well to help with balance and building the core. probably the fact that it is easier to remain stable is a good thing for an in-home board since there are not the same type of safety nets one has at the gym or at PT. One problem is the board is not square so it only works on a side to side basis and not as well front to back.

Improve your balance issues
A standard component of knee therapy is practicing balance. My husband and I have both had knee replacement surgery, and our therapists particularly recommended this balance board for practicing at home. Wood floors are great, tile not so much. We used a large piece of plywood on carpet surface. This is a sturdy and high quality wooden board--highly recommend it.

great for kids and double great for kids working on gross motor skills.
solid, sturdy, and great for kids working on balance. I got it for my 6 year old and she has accepted the challenge. She "plays" on it almost every day for a few minutes and I'm actually seeing results. I can't wait to upgrade her to one that goes in every direction.

Meets its stated purpose
Some, if not most, of the poor reviews complain that it's too easy to balance on. First, it's intended as a physical therapy tool to strengthen and rejuvenate muscles that function to maintain balance, not for training to be an acrobat. Second, if you use it on carpeting, which I highly suspect may be the mistake many of these reviewers make, then yes, it's too easy because the cushioning of the carpet in effect reduces the board's curvature. If used on a hard surface, e.g., wood, tile, linoleum, etc., it does the job well. I even had my physical therapist check it out before I purchased and it was given a clear thumbs up.

Ink from brand stamp got all over
I purchased this to do exercises that I am currently doing at PT. I also happen to be an OT. After unboxing and trying out, my daughter asked what was on my forehead. A big black smear. I then noticed black on my hands. Looked at package and board and found smeared ink stamp of brand on the board. I wiped the rest off the board with paper towel. Unfortunately, it also got on the white sweater I was wearing. The board is durable. However, the curved parts on the bottom should have been designed to be right up to the edges like some others sold on Amazon. When using to balance side to side it isn’t an issue. But when using it to balance front to back, you need to not step to close to edge when getting on or it tips to the side. Due to this issue I’m returning and purchasing a different brand. I also thought this one was less of a challenge than the one I use at PT. Therefore, I am now ordering the only one I found on Amazon that is 7.5 inches high vs the typical 3 - 3.5 inches
