Calm, Cool, Collected: How to Demolish Stress, Master Anxiety, and Live Your Life

Truly awful. I'm sorry, I tried to love the book and the author, but I just can't.
It was such a good idea, and there are one or two useful sentences in it, but for someone who's dealing with REAL stress, and distress, this book reads like a teenager's advice to his tween brother. Based on the very favorable reviews I happily forked over a little money for this quick little read. It wasn't worth even the small price - by 15 minutes in you realize you're listening to a 20-something who frames the "problems" of life that cause our stress in terms of getting in a fender bender, being late for work or (horror!) your partner not wanting to have sex with you one night. Give me a bleeping break.Until you've had a career at stake, dealt with death, grief, loss, failed a business, fired loyal employees, survived recession or serious illness, tragedy or trauma; until you've had something, anything ACTUALLY bad happen to you, please do NOT presume to tell people (many of whom have dealt with ALL of those) how they can be as calm, cool and collected as you amazingly managed to be that time you went to get a workout in and, OH MY GOSH, the gym was closed! Noooooooooo!!!!!Sorry, I'm sure the author's a nice kid, but this book simply REEKS of "how can I fund a gap year in Europe with a quick ebook?" Truly awful.

and am I glad I did
I just bought this slim volume based on an automated Amazon recommendation, and am I glad I did! I've never heard of the author, who is apparently in his mid-twenties, but the true wisdom in this book has the power to create the biggest kind of shift possible. The author, David de las Morenas, credits the Stoic Philosophers, and especially Marcus Aurelius, as the inspiration for this book. I've read some of the Stoics, and books on Stoic philosophy as it relates to modern life (Tim Ferris is a huge proponent of utilizing Stoic ideas and reading the Stoics as a way to "hack" modern living), but somehow this book is a distillation of the most important aspects of those ideas into a glistening, crystal clear droplet.Once I started the practice of staying open and refusing to close down no matter what happened to me, life became a wonderful adventure. The practices outlined in this book are spiritual life teachings of the highest order. I am a long time seeker of spiritual wisdom, and I can pretty much guarantee that following the teaching of this book will CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Buy it!

Easy to Digest & Immediately Applicable
David has put together a very easy to digest book on how to manage stress and anxiety. As somebody who occasionally struggles to effectively manage my own anxiety, I have found that dedicating myself to "remaining open" under all circumstances, as David suggests, is a fantastic mentality to maintain. I specifically found the chapter about "the little man inside your head" to be important. I have begun to remind myself of this every time any negative self-talk erupts in my mind and it truly helps to keep me centered and focused. I think David is doing some great work at his young age and I hope he keeps moving forward, inspiring us to continue to self-improve as well as to pursue and succeed in our own endeavors.

Posture...
If you apply the information in this book it will help significantly. The bit about the heart chakra and how to position yourself to benefit from it was worth the whole read. Its made such a difference that I have developed it into a habit.

Calm, Cool, Collected is an exceptional book - it's straight to the point and loaded with actionable content (as are all of David's books).I read this book the same day it came out and have implemented many of the techniques (such as staying 'open') since then - I can say with absolute certainty that this does make a massive difference to my mood and state.$9 is a small price to pay for the techniques you'll learn here.

An essential book
I follow David De Las Morenas and his website How to Beast, so I was excited to check out this book when I heard about it. I was not disappointed. It is an inspiring read that really applies to everyone on a very personal level. I am very stressed out about a recent financial incident in my life and this book was able to live up to its name and keep me calm, cool, and collected.
