Contents good. Lousy packaging by Amazon
Stars are for the book's content. It is very informative if rather challenging at times even though I have some background in Geology. The book was delivered in an Amazon package that was falling apart and as a consequence the front cover was badly creased. Shame on Amazon.

Planetary Tectonics
Cambridge University Press are renowned for publishing first class academic books and this one is no exception. The binding is robust, the paper clear and bright and the text easy on the eye. This book is part of the Cambridge Planetary Science series and specialises in the tectonic features present on the terrestrial planets and moons around them. Each planet / moon has a section of its own written by specialists in the subject. Each topic is written in detail with appropriate and informative diagrams, images, graphs and equations - not to mention extensive references lists at the end of each one.The science advances very quickly these days in this subject and the information is up to date as of 2010. I thought I had a good knowledge about this subject area but reading the section on the Moon proved me wrong. You really have to read this book to appreciate the fine detail and logical conclusions.Whilst aimed at the academic market it is a joy to read and would be of great interest to any amateur astronomer / geologist who wants to broaden their knowledge. It really is a great book and for that reason I give it a 5-star rating.
