Cozy historical read
While this book covers some of the hardships Jews had to go thru during World War II, it's a love story. A love story of Vittoria & her love of her family, which is what helped them to survive the ravages of the war. A very interesting, well written story.

Heartfelt Story
I didn't realize it was a true story until the end. It is an easy e joyable read. It provides a look at WWII that is different from many stories about it.

A very awesome book cover
Vercelli, Italy. Ms. Vittoria Vitale (daughter/sister, wife/mother) remarkable narration of how her family, friends & others either perished or survived WWII.Warning: This book contains extremely graphic adult content, violence, or expletive language &/or uncensored sexually explicit material which is only suitable for mature readers. It may be offensive or have potential adverse psychological effects on the reader.I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great movie, PP presentation, or better yet a mini TV series or even a documentary (A & E, History channel). It was just OK for me but I will still rate it at 5 stars.Thank you for the free author; InstaFreebie; Amazon Digital Services LLC.; bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)

Catholic Sensitivity and Concerns
My first inclination after reading paragraph one on page 79, was to not finish reading the book any further. I am Catholic, and deeply reverence the Jewish heritage of my religion. I also believe it is crucial for Christians of any ilk to become aware of the tremendous injustice and suffering thrust upon our Jewish brothers and sisters. In her book, reference was made to priests of a certain parish who in their sermons "blamed the Jews for all the evil in Italy and the entire world". Firstly, I find this difficult at best to believe. Secondly, if it was true in any degree whatsoever, it did not reflect what the Catholic Church teaches at all. I have been reading books on the holocaust for over forty years and am well aware there are innumerable accounts of Catholics, especially priests, who were killed for speaking up and/or preaching against the atrocities. The suffering and death of priests sent to Dachau was no less cruel, or unjust, than that of the Jews. In my opinion, at the bare minimum, the author should have included some qualifying statement reflecting the truth of Christian Catholic sacrifice suffered by so many in solidarity with the Jewish people. Otherwise, it easily gives a false and unjust impression to readers who lack that sort of background knowledge.Readers will almost certainly admire and appreciate the personal research and labor of love found in the pages of this book, a most moving family saga. However, her research efforts should equally consider, and in a balanced way reflect, the sacrifices and suffering of sympathetic Catholics as well.

A captivating story of the author’s grandmother..
This book was difficult to put down! I was so taken with Vittoria. I found her endearing, protective, and independent of thought. Her story is written so tenderly that it truly reads more like a journal at times. I am moved by the author’s ability to place herself within her grandmother’s most trying, tragic and at times:most intimate thoughts and experiences. To do that takes maturity and care both of which are clearly evident. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in literature about the Holocaust and survival but also about enduring love and familial comfort and story telling through food.

Insights into family life during World War II
My Name is Victoria reads almost like a diary or biography, a novel based on a real family in Italy during World War II. It is a sad story, as the unfolding events of the war affect the family members in different ways. The family is Jewish, so the impacts on them are even more striking, as each person tries to do what is best for the family members. There are quite a few people to keep track of in the extended family, and I found that difficult at times. At times the words were in Italian or were Jewish terms that were sometimes unfamiliar. The story is good on showing how a family is impacted by war, and how they must adjust to the changing times brought about by the war.

A Good Difference
A very good book. It was good because it truly is a story of survival. I can understand Vittoria’s frustrations and her love and nurturing of her sons. We mothers have a sixth sense when it involves our children. The endurance needed to overcome and survive. I often think of how horrible it had to have been during that time. My Father fought in WWII, but he never spoke of the war…never. I gaze at his pictures taken overseas. So young, so handsome in his Armed Forces uniform. I look forward to reading more. History fascinates me.

The Italian Jewish community.
This is one of the few books in which I have discovered another sad tale about the Jewish community that lived in Italy and the way their lives were uprooted by Hitler and Mussolini. It reinforces how people who thought they were an important part of their community were made to feel that they didn’t belong with the rise of racism. Vittoria believes that once the war is finished that she and her family can return to Italy to what existed before Mussolini and Hitler. Sadly, the anti Semitism that was present before remained and without a doubt reinforced what her husband believed that… Israel was the best place for them. They built a life there but Vittoria’s story highlights the many people who could never tell their story and it was left to their children, grandchildren and the survivors of the Holocaust to ensure their stories were told.
