Cigarette pants that finally fit!
1) StylesDon’t be put off by the dated styles. The information on fitting is very good2) Fitting information I don’t think I look like any of the models in the book, age and shape wise. I focused on the fit issues I have that the models also had.3) What I madeThere was no model fitted for a cigarette/ slim fit style pants. What the book calls fitted pants is not fitted by any means, following what “fitted” is currently understood as. The information is still useful. For the first time ever, I managed to make a pair of cigarette pants that fit so well!4) Fitting processThe book uses the tissue fitting method. No muslin needed. I don’t cut into my pattern, so I made a muslin. I cut out only one side, as if I was tissue fitting5) Version I boughtI got the ebook version. The format isn’t very good, with the pictures not being where it was intended to appear. Doesn’t really bother me, considering it’s cheaper

So helpful and easy to follow!
I am a teach-myself-to-sew person as I do not have any person or educational center near me to help me out. And there is so much information out there on sewing! But I find most of it is geared towards more skilled levels or more generic information. I had decided to stick to one type of garment to develop my skills with; decided on pants, since I am hard to fit in that area, and bounced all over the place to find information. I was pleased, after much searching, to find this easy to follow book on pattern alteration for pants. Once I master my pants, I plan to use their other books to increase my skills in other areas.

Insightful
A great book for understanding pattern alterations and achieving the best fit possible for not 6'2", 8% body fat people.Although the book is written for women, men's sewers can also find some good tricks in it.I just love the way it's illustrated and the ease of following instructions.I bought this book along http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008GI0I8C metric pattern cutting for menswear, for a suit project (with very expensive fabric) I wanted to start and I must say it came amazing, best pants I've ever had.

I absolutely love this book and method
I absolutely love this book and method. It clarified the adjustment process to use on patterns to make clothes fit me better. I this method, in conjunction with the slide method in "Pattern Fitting with Confidence" on a pair of shorts that made the pattern adjustment easy and flawless. This book made me realize that a lot of women are not within the industry "standard" but that we can still have pants that fit us both comfortably and beautifully! I would highly recommend purchasing this book if you have a body shape that is not the "standard" shape. I can't wait to make more beautiful clothes that actually fit me comfortably!

This book is amazing. Well written, well illustrated, best alterations. Every fit problem is addressed. I have dozens of books and this series, are by far my favorite! If you wonder why garments sewn from patterns fit funny, get this book for Pants or Fit for Real People for tops and skirts.

Useful Book
I've had this book for a while now, but haven't found it quite as easy to use as it seems. It is useful, but I think it might be better once I put some of the weight back on that I lost when I went through 2 cancer surgeries last year. The process does make complete sense, so I'm not saying the book doesn't have merit.

Great fitting book
I have made my own clothes, pants included, for most of my life. Although I have several books on fitting, this is among the best of them. Marta goes into great detail in pin fitting both the pattern and the cloth garment. One thing I wish she had touched on is how the garments fit the models in positions other than standing up. A garment that is fitted to a standing model, may or may not feel comfortable when the model is sitting or squatting. The Palmer Pletsch method of fitting clothing has been around, tested, revised and tested again. The models in the book are not pencil thin, tall perfectly proportioned professional models, but ordinary women, both young and mature, whose bodies have a variety of shapes and fitting challenges. I find this a very helpful fitting aid.

Excellent Books by the Patti Palmer and Marta Alto, th Palmer-Pletsch Publication.
PALMER/PLETSCH publish the best books especially on fit and alteration. My 3 P/P books arrived today early and in perfect condition. I owned their first book on fit; I now have their latest 4 books fit for anybody jackets, pants, knits, and complete guide to fit. These books are excellent. I have my "Fashion Design Degree" from Ryerson Polytechical Institute now known as Ryerson University . Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I'm teaching myself what I did not learn at Ryerson 1979 - 1982. Not much useful.
Unnecessary photos are mentioned. Content is lack of dimensions, details procedures. The book has referred other books of same writer at many places to check further details which is trick of writer to compel unnecessary purchase of their books.
